The writer, the originator of this quote, is simply trying to explain that life is a mystery. You do not know what is in the center of the chocolate you choose and you do not know what the future holds.
Simply said, you take the good with the bad.

I'm sorry, I always thought the quote was from Forrest Gump and it went 'My mama always said life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gunna get.' Is that now right? Well I thought that's what it was, anyway.

i thought it was "life is like a box of chocolates." my thoughts on this quote is that in life there are some good times, and bad times. (lets just hope they are talking about an assorted box of chocolates.)

choclate looks good, smells good, tastes good no matter how its shaped in. If its a shell or a star or a heart or a plain square...
but life some things look good on the outside but are horrible on the inside or if someone is plain looking on the outside you might find some sweet caramel on the inside. ANd in a box of choclate, you just have to look inorder to find what kind you like, but in life you have to work your *** off, most of the time, to enjoy urself. Thats briefly what i think.

I agree with you...it's NOT !!!!
But it is what you make of it....you ultimately have control of your life and the choices you make to either enjoy life..or complain that its not what you want.
If my life was a box of chocolates...I'd want it to be assorted chocolates...that way I dont get bored with the same old thing !!!! :-)

That's a tough one for me to comment on. I don't really like chocolate very much. So, maybe that is an opinion of underlying issues on my part. ;)
I do think though, that life is more like a jar of mixed nuts!
