Did you try getting grants from the state???

You'll have to be an "independent" to get loans on your own with Sallie Mae through school. Won't need a co-signer. But if you are really young, won't work unless you have a kid or are married (thsoe automatically make you an independent). those loans would be best.

otherwise, it'll proabably have to be regular financial aid (grants, state/federal aid, etc.) or try to get some scholarships. Stop by the financial aid office at your school for help. I know that sometimes parents don't want to be involved with co-signing loans and it can be a pain in the butt.

This is what you will NEED to do:
1) Fill out a FAFSA
2) Contact your financial aid office and get your parent to apply for the Parent Plus Loan
3) If they get turned down, you contact your financial aid office and tell them that you want an UNSUBSIDIZED Stafford LOAN
4) If you have unmet need ask for additional grants (FSEOG, your state's grant)
