The Special K diety.

Oh, you mean DEITY... God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.

I practice Ifa, an ancient African religion. A far stronger religion than Wicca. Wicca is a newer philosophy which combines some different things in a silly way, and is more of a Western witchcraft thing. Lightweight stuff, quite frankly.
Everybody is born to an Orisa. You can call them deities or patron deities, thats fine. We usually take on certain characteristics of each Orisa. Ifa was brought over to the Americas by the African slaves, Santeria was formed. Through necessity they worshipped Catholic slaves and matched the Saints with different Orisa's.
I am a Babalawo, high priest of Ifa, and I actually do readings. A Guardian reading is necessary to determine ones Guardian Orisa. Once you know, it will be helpful to work with your Orisa's energy to help improve your life.
This may sound strange to Westerners, but it works. They practice Candoble in Brazil, which also comes from Ifa. It is basically their national religion next to Catholicism. Millions of them practice this religion every day.

Knowledge is a good thing. I took a College level class in World religions and found it fasciniating. I choose Christianity because I stongly believe it to be the right way. I also know that everyone will not agree.
What I believe is that man is flawed and everyone (in some form or fashion) is attempting to worhip the same God. Some have different rituals and rules, but to me it all the same.

Treat people well, do unto others as you would have done to you and be thankful to your creator for all the gifts! Be well!

Well if you are part of a polytheistic religion then you may choose your family's patron deity or depending on which one choose your own. It's going to take a lot of research though if you want to choose from them all. After you might miss the best one for you unless you research them all. If you miss one you may offend that one as well. Careful the gods can be jelous. Oh wait that's a little preachy sorry.

A patron Deity to me is one who you call on to help you in all of your rituals, prayers, meditations, daily life, spiritual growth. The god/goddess that most speaks to your heart, has the strongest connection to you would be your patron Deity. Although there are many names and faces to God/Goddess, one aspect will call to you to grow with.

For me, I tend to work with God/Goddess as the Infinite Creator rather than as the names given by humans. Though I do call a lot upon Jesus, Mary, Odin, Quan Yin, Kali and others, each one has held a special time in my life and continues to do so.

Isis is mine. It was hard for me to chose, but i knew it was Egyptian. My advice for you is to find a ancient culture you like the most and meditate on it.
A divine patron can help you in rituals, can sometime anwser your question, help you go deaper in meditation. You can have more than one gest make sure if you are talking to them that they like each other so they do not fight.

I've heard it's typical for Pagans to choose (or be chosen by, I guess) one or a few deities with whom they establish a very special devotion or connection. Sort of like your particular go-to god or goddess.

I have several Pagan friends, and one of them has the Norse god Loki as a monkey on his back. Another of my friends chose a Celtic goddes as her personal one. It depends on what traits you look for in your spiritual companion.

I believe the divine realm to be inherently uncountable.
