If he is at fault, and you have no collision coverage the damage to you vehicle is not covered. If the accident is the other person's fault then you would have to make a claim against the liability coverage on the other person's insurance. The other person's Underinsured coverage does not factor in here at all. Your liability coverage pays for someone else's damages when you are at fault, but not for damage to your car. If you know anyone who is good with repairs and body work, maybe it will cost less, but it is probably better to have a good reputable shop fix it.
Collision is one of those coverages people think they won't ever need because they are good drivers and if they have an accident it won't be their fault, so why buy it? But if your vehicle is not extremely old and you need it to be operational, you should always consider buying the coverage with a reasonable deductible that you can afford to pay if involved in an accident.

Without collision insurance, he'll have to pay out of his own pocket.
There isn't any way that you can get the insurance company to pay since you need to have the coverage before an accident occurs.
A good place to go for car repair is Maaco. I had to fix dents and get the whole passenger side of my mom's car painted. It only cost me $1200 CAD.
To help bring down cost on possible future incidents, your bf should up his insurance to full coverage. It costs a little more each month, but you can walk out of an accident without it costing you a single penny.

You just answered your own question. HE has no collision coverage, therefore, he has no coverage to fix his own vehicle. The insurance would only pay for his damages if he had collision coverage. For 2K in damages, sounds like he was going way too fast. The only thing that I would suggest about his damages is that you find a auto body repair school in your area and see if they will be willing to fix the car for you if you provide the parts.

If he was caused the accident and doesn't have collision coverage, you will have to pay for your vehicle damages on your own. If the other person was partially or completely at fault, then the insurance company of the other person involved may pay for some of your damages. you will need to contact them and give them your side of the story. If you are responsible for the entire accident, your insurance company will pay for the damages to the other guys car entirely.

If he doesn't have collision, then your insurance only covers the damage done to the other vehicle.
Is the other party at fault, or is he 100% at fault? If it was a parked car, all the fault is his. If the other car was moving, depending on the laws of your state, they could be partially at fault for the accident, and their insurance might pay some of it.
I'd call the agent, and ask them, "hypothetically".

If he has no collision, he's out of luck on getting his car fixed.
If he has liability coverage, this coverage will pay to fix the other guy's car he hit.
Your BF's insurance company won't pay for his car, but should for the person he hit.

The other person's insurance company might cover their repairs (not yours) through their "Underinsured Motorist" coverage, since your BF has insufficent coverage...however I am a bit fuzzy as to whether their insurance company might or might not try to come after your boyfriend for the damages. I think they will, but I'd consult an insurance agent about how that works, and then consider talking to a lawyer. But no matter what, your BF will be responsible for the cost of his own damages (and likely might end up paying for everything). Sorry, but it looks like he has to step up and take responsibility here...
Hope this helped.

Basic insurance lesson 101: collision pays for his car; liability pays for the other car. No collision, no check. Look at it this way: take all that money he saved by NOT buying collision and repair the car with it.
Yea, I thought so.......
