No, I don't prefer to live in the same house with my parents. After I moved out, I really appreciated my independence. Nevertheless, I would rather have them live near me so I can always check on them. My parents aren't young anymore and I enjoy looking after them and their needs. I guess I can speak for most parents when I say that parents, just like their kids, need their independence and space too.

But if my folks were to tell me that they would very much like to live with me, I would never say no to that. They provided a good home for me while I was growing up, and I would very much like to provide one for them now that they're old.

I was looking for the day to move out from my parents house. I wanted to be independent and make my own decisions and learn from my own mistakes. I could not imagine moving back with my parents, because I want my freedom.
PS: I come from a healthy home and my parents treated me always with respect.

i do, but maybe not forever. i see no reason (if there are no stupid rules or anything) that a person in their 20's does not live with their parents. think about it. if you could take the money that the normal person would pay their mortgage and all that jazz with, and put it towards their ROTH IRA throughout their 20's, they would retire a millionaire, hands down. dont believe me???? do the math. the person who maxes out their ROTH IRA every year throughout their 20's (and only their 20's, they never save for retirement afterwards) will be filthy rich by the time they are 65. what better way could someone save for this retirement option than to milk their parents as long as possible.

With parent there wont be any freedom. I like to stay with them still. Why ? Who will tyake care of them ? the relatives !!! i don't think so. ATLEAST the children should live near by if not in the same house.

My parents are my best friends. I put off moving out as long as i could. I lived with them until I was 28 and it was the hardest thing i ever had to do when i left. Even if i did only move 2 miles down the road. They are my everything.

Once you get out of your family's house, you don't want to have to go back.

I got married a year ago and I can't believe all the peace and quiet I have now. I lived with 3 people so everywhere you would go in the house, someone was there. It is so nice to come home now and have some quiet time!!!

i am not entierly sure actually...... have been married and away from my parents for the last 3-4 years and i miss them terribly. i miss having long talks with my mom and seeking advice even though i acted as if i knew everything. i miss having the strong support of my father.... he could just give me strenght by being in the room and not saying a word. i miss having them as my support.... but them they did have the capacity to drive me up the wall with a few of their insistances .... i dont know how it would work out after these years. i liked the thought though

I think I'd have to be on crack to prefer to have stayed with my parents forever. I love my parents, but I needed to move out too.

Freedom, as Janis Joplin put it, is having nothing left to lose. That may sound a bit cheesy, but it makes a lot of sense if you think about it. It is our desire to maintain our lifestyles that govern much of our actions.
