You can't kiss when the cold sore is active all other times it is OK to kiss.
You normally get a tingle feeling before it erupts so I don't kiss the kids or hubby when it starts tingling until the cold sore heals.

I have not passed mine on to the hubby or kids in 24 years.

No, that's an old wives tale. I am a trained nurse and complementary therapist. If you have a cold sore, it is contagious only until a scab has formed, but if you have ever had a cold sore you will get others in the future as the herpes simplex virus is dormant within your body - don't worry this is not serious, millions of people carry the virus, just don't kiss anyone while you have a cold sore or you can transfer the virus to them. Zovirax cream or tea tree essential oil are both very good for treating cold sores, apply them to the affected area as soon as you realise a cold sore is on the way, or you can consult your GP or pharmacist for advise. Hope this has been of some use.

There are two forms of Herpes (possibly more I'm not a Doctor) simplex 1 and simplex 2 one affects thy gob and the other another part of the anatomy that rhymes with gob. Think on this how many people do you know who have never had a cold. Cold sores are caused by a lowering of the immune system while fighting the cold. It's not life threatening it might be unpleasant to look at but it won't have any lasting impact kiss the ugly fucker.

No, you can kiss, but not really while you still have the cold sore. If it's only one and you're still a virgin then I think you're okay because you couldn't have caught the nasty herpes one. I wouldn't do anything with the expression of love in the meantime. You can still eat and other stuff though. I recommend you getting a medicated lip balm.

My partner suffers from cold sores he uses an antiviral cream when he thinks it is about to breakout, we don`t kiss or have any contact around that area until it has cleared up. I have never caught the virus and we have been together for 12 years.

Cold sore is caused by the herpes virus and it is infectious so you shoudl'nt touch it other than using zovirax which you apply 5 times a day for five days.Once it's gone carry on kissing.

If you do have one it's best not to kiss if. I'd reccomend using hydrogen peroxide on the cold sore for several days until it clears up.

A cold sore never killed anyone.
The cold sore virus is actually called herpes. Not pleasant, but it's not like passing on HIV.
