You can't control what she'll do, but you can control what you'll do. All ex-smokers are going to be around people that smoke. That doesn't mean that you start smoking again. It's not her responsibility to keep you from smoking again - it's yours. That said, since she's not a smoker now, why in the world would she want to be one?!?!? You can certainly give her some gentle advice about how much it sucks to have to quit once you start, but for her health, not yours.

First off; Congrats!! I would tell her that there are higher risk for women to start smoking. But prove it first. Go search for it on the web or ask a doctor. Especially a GYNO will tell ya. But I would tell her that you have stopped and that you would like for her not to even start. Smoking causes Emphysema which my dad passed away from. Not good to have, my dad was slowly suffocating from smoking cigarettes. Plus on top of it, I too was a smoker, and ended up with terrible allergies to a lot of smog. So I had to quit. My fiance also quit, but he did it for our kids. Only because when I was pregnant with my last child, I got seriously sick from being around cigarette smoke. Couldn't stand it what so ever not even to the slightest. But seriously...if she loves you and you don't want her into it and you don't want to get back into it, than tell her don't even start. But if your okay with her smoking, than go for it...she might not even like it. Its really all up to the both of you. Take Care!

Do you LET her???
Friend! think about your words and you'll never have to ask. You live your life, she lives her life and if you are no longer compatible, go your own way or take your chances. That applies to smoking, taking up painting, shaving your head, or joining a strange cult.
We all have one short life, I'm all for living and let live!!
Plus, I think people in America have forgotten how to live--we've gone from three cocktails a day in smoke filled lounges to car seats, bike helmets, 6 hours of TV a day, and 40% income taxes. I can only wish your girl friend a happy, hearty life.

Just being around a smoker is enough to tempt you back "on the wagon". If she does elect to smoke regardless of the health risks to herself, you'll have to ask that she do so away from you.

why does your girlfriend want to smoke? i smoke but i know all of the risks involved. its not something you wake up and try it can kill you in the long run. if her stress is that unbearable then she should find a hobby that is healthy. smoking is something that takes time to quit, are you ready to go down that road again? if not then weigh your options with your girl.

As others pronounced, you're literally not meant to inhale cigars, the nicotine crosses over your tongue/mouth into your bloodstream. you will get mouth/tongue etc maximum cancers. Frequency of direction concerns plenty - smoking cigars each day vs 2 a month is going to have different possibility stages.

You cant really demand her but you can , tell her things like , "Great Ill be kissing an ashtray"
Or just make her realize , she is so important to you , you cant watch her or be near her when she smokes.

She has to want to quit smoking and set a date to quit. Don't force her to quit smoking, because it will ruin your relationship. Ask her kindly to not smoke around you and ask her kindly before kissing to use a mouthwash.

You can't really stop her from smoking. Explain why you would rather she didn't and how much better you feel since you quit.
