you know what im talking about...those that will post the most incoherant, jumbled, gobblety-goop, as if it were a real question....i mean most of the time we can pretty much decipher what the question being asked is but what about the ones you cant?.....do these people actually speak this way too?...can you imagine carrying on a conversation like that?...it would be like talking to an alien!

We have dumbed down our education system due to our litigious, lazy population, fueled by an open border and a ridiculous welfare system. I have no problem commenting on poor grammar, spelling, etiquette, or any other socially corrupting behavior. But don't you dare correct me.... lol.

Yes I know exactly what you mean. The other day I came across a question that went something like this: "All the Indians please answer this question? - 'cause I'm an Indian too."

And that was it, there was no question at all. I thought it was kind of silly to even post something like that. I just don't get it. Do these people get lost in the middle of creating a question, start thinking about something completely different? Or do they even know what it is what they want to ask?

Basically I don't have time for such questions, so I just skip them, or if they really irritate me, I rate them and move on.

I think it is a general problem with e-mail.

People will say things in e-mail that they would never say in person to someone else. The abbreviations make the situation worse.

I wish everyone (including myself) would wait 24 hours before sending any e-mail: recheck spelling and content. The spelling is a free check; content can be rethought. (IE., you probably shouldn't send something out detailing your abusive boss if you've just had a lot to drink)

E-Mail and Answers make so many things _instant_, I think we forget that most of our lives are not instant. We (including myself) need to take moments to reflect on our thoughts before distributing them to the world. Those thoughts may or may not come back to haunt us at a later date if we are running for political offices--but maybe it should just be common courtesy to do so?

I don't know.

It is a good question and I think there are lots of thoughtful answers.

For what it is worth,

Jim

I know what you mean. I think they type that way to save time, or maybe they just don't know how to spell. Hard to say. Some people don't realize that there's such a thing as a spell-checker.

Perhaps you've answered your own question. Aliens--they're everywhere. I would prefer to think that than have to believe the people of this country are that ignorant and uneducated.

And yet surprisingly, many can quote a television commercial jingle from start to finish without a hitch...ahh television--what hath thou wroth?

It irritates me to no end. As do most grammatical, punctuation or spelling errors. The teacher in me always wants to correct!
