Canon makes the best Cameras in the world. Kodak is good, but it's not as highly rated as Canon. canon is rated the best by Professional Photo grapher.
"Canon ixus" range makes the best of the cameras. Its because of its ccod quality.

Absolutely not. Most Kodak cameras I would put in the unacceptable category...as in no one should purchase them for any reason. Why? They have major problems that just don't show up in other cameras....white balance issues, color issues, exposure issues, chromatic aberrations etc.
Before buying a Kodak, check the testing done by a pro available on this website for many cameras.
http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/cameraList.php
Notice the problems that crop up? Now go check comparable cameras from other brands that are of similar price. Those problems don't exist. These things are very basic to taking good pictures and Kodak simply doesn't measure up.
A much better brand is Canon. Almost any class of camera, Canon makes the best one. Two notable exceptions are the Sony DSC-H2 or H5 ultrazoom cameras. These perform better than their counterparts by Canon. Also, Sony makes the DSC-R1 which is the best fixed lens (ie not an SLR) digital camera available. No other manufacturer makes a comparable camera.
Canon also makes the best digital SLR cameras. However, some people feel that Nikon SLR cameras are better (I disagree).

I've enjoyed using my Kodak Digital for nearly three years. It is a simple point and shoot and does a great job of taking snapshots, etc. Of course, in the past three years, Kodak has developed a lot of newer models with larger screens, more pixel, fancier bells and whistle.
What makes the Kodak digital cameras worth considering is that they are a well made convergence of ease of use, nice quality pictures, and affordability. If you plan to become a professional photographer or submit your photos to National Geographic, you'll probably not want one of the Kodak models. If, however, you plan to take nice snaps shots of family, friends, landscapes, sporting events, etc, and print them out at home or send them by email, I don't think the Kodak will disappoint you. You can also check out a review of Kodak cameras and others at Consumers Report online.
Sure there are fancier, more expensive brands out there. But Kodak will deliver nice photos for most consumers at a price you can live with.
PS I'm planning to give a new one to my wife for Christmas. It will be another Kodak.

In terms of image quality and reliability, I would say so, yes.
However, as a serious photographer, I do believe there are other, better cameras, better suited to MY needs.
BUT! If you are looking for a good camera to take snapshots with, that won't get you bogged down in an endless maze of menu selections. If you want a camera that you point, shoot, and either take to the corner Drugstore for great looking double prints, or use one of those little standalone printers to print your own; Then the Kodak line is for you. It was designed with your needs in mind. and for the most part, Kodak has been VERY successful.
I bought a little $200 Kodak for my wife and she couldn't be happier. I'm happy too, because she isn't always pestering me with questions on how to use the camera.

I don't think they do. My friend has a Kodak digital. Yes, its easy to use because it lack a lot of cool features other cameras have built in. The Kodak digitals are sort of bulky compared to Canon, Nikon and other brands. They may have the best photo paper and development liquids, but not the best digital camera. Try a Nikon - my favorite, good quality, loaded with features and easy to use.

When compared to other brands on real enthusiasts web sites, like DPReview.com, they tend not to fare that well. However, Kodaks have great user interfaces, some of the best color rendition of any camera, and nice packaging and styling. If you are a "pixel peeper" and want the very finest in image quality- Kodak's aren't for you. But they're are fine cameras- and they have some really creative, interesting designs. Like a really really small 10x zoom camera. And the only real wide angle sub-compact camera.
It's OK to buy a Kodak if you like it. But- there are finer optical instruments out there for the enthusiasts.

Kodak makes good, easy-to-use cameras for everyday consumers. For professionals, other companies like Nikon and Canon make better cameras and lenses. Check out dpreview.com, you can see what's available in different price ranges..

My wife did the research and thought they offered the best value so we bought one....it performed so well that when we wanted to upgrade we bought Kodak again.
Only issue we have had with the new one is the docking station is a little bit touchy. You have to set the camera on it just right or it does not connect. We did not have this problem with the first one. Maybe we just got a touchy one, or they have improved it in the last year.
Camera wise we are happy.
