Oh yes! And many of my problems in life have stemmed from this 'virtue-flaw'. I bite my tongue these days. It's kinder.

when people use the phrase "too honest"...they could be joking and saying that you may have gone the other way. Or they could mean that you are so honest and overreaching to prove something that they agree with your attempt to show your honesty. Depends on the person saying the phrase, if they are a friend or a foe.

Yes. Look out for yourself and your loved ones. Try to get what you want from life and to advance to the limits of your capabilities. That will require you to lie more than occasionally. It is all about survival and all is "fair".
Most all people (the masses) love liars and love to be lied to though they do not realize it. They also hate those that try and tell them the truth with a passion and hate the truth itself. Honesty will often get you in trouble. More often than intelligent lies will.
You should read the book "Might Is Right" by Ragnar Redbeard
It may change your life. It did mine. For the better naturally.

yes you can be too honest there are somethings that you don't need too tell the truth about or it my not be your place to tell the truth about most of the time when people ask thing like am I fat they already know the truth they just want you to make them feel better about themselvess so just lie or if your boyfriend wakes up and sees your having good dream when ask who was in your dream smile and say you baby who else there no reason to make someone feel bad about themselve if it be prevented

Yes. If you have something negative to say to somebody its always best to sugar coat, frame it as positively as possible, or even to make up some story that will get the point across without setting up resistance or defense in the person you're trying to communicate with.

Yes. It is not "honesty" if you know you are hurting someone's feelings. You don't have to lie , ever. Just dance around the issue. For instance if someone asks how their hideous outfit is, you could comment on the color. This isn't lying, it's being nice.

Brutal honesty is used many times with the intent to hurt people. Some things should be left unsaid.

Yes, depending on the situation. Like someone else said, one needs to use tact.
"Tact is the knack for making a point w/o making an enemy." (Howard Bentz, I think)
I guess, really, you just have to know how to present the truth and let some parts of it be inferred.

I think that in cases when somebody will be hurt its best to not tell the whole truth. Like when a kid asks if they will ever get a job they like, or a woman asks if her butt is fat. Then lie a little. Mostly best to tell the truth though.

No. If a person is anything but "too honest" then they are a liar.
