deciding when you want to have kids (ie- financially stable, older, etc) and using some sort of Birth control, usually, to do that.

It is sitting down and figuring out how many children you are having and when you would like to conceive them. Then, using the female's fertility (mucus, ovulation, temperature), factoring when the best time to have intercourse it to conceive. Then when you don't want children it is knowing when it is safe to have sex.

This is great science, however not great in practice. Very few people conceive on schedule, and those that do tend to have a surprise or two along the way.

Family planning is a natural method for birth control. It's about understanding your ovulation schedule and having sex accordingly. It is a little scetchy though. Sperm can live inside you for up to seven days.
