Yes, I do think this happens regularly in our world ...everywhere.
Most of the worlds leaders are sociopaths that need power, control, money and prestige to live up to what they think is the way of the world. What few of these people stop to think about is that when they earn 10 billion $$$$$$ a year plus bonuses and stock options etc. Millions of other human beings may suffer lack of something; money, healthy living due to environmental degrading, cultural invasion and disruption, war, criminality, I could go on.
Sadly, weather it is a monster that kills, tortures, mutilates, gases people, causes genocide, or order armies to war, creates terror on innocents, etc. It is a world wide phenomina that engulfs us all.
Currently it looks to me like we have kinda a religious war going on between the sociopathic fundamentalist Moslems/Islam and the Christian/Judeo fanatics that also embrace to the death, Capitalism (which is best fostered under Democracy)
I doubt any of us will see the end of this conflict in our lifetimes; unless we all kill each other off first.
Not that I'm any different than anybody else but when I look at things from a higher perspective, it embarrasses me to be human. We as human constantly stuggle to gain more. We allow the people who fost our best/greedy interests to run the show and so these out of wack, sociopathic leaders help us to be directed always to conflict rather than balance and peaceful resolve. I for one, do have a sense of having enough. My insecurites are that the way our government is playing the game, I can't count on holding on to what I need to finish my life in some kind of reasonable grace and wellbeing. The crazies are running the world and the rest of us are and will continue to pay for their actions, both with our well being as well as in some cases, with our lives and blood.

There are problems with capitalism, sure. But we could put together a much longer list of the good things corporations provide, such as the food on your table, the clothes on your back, and the medicines in your medicine cabinet.
There are much worse monsters in the world to worry about. Stalin, Hitler and Saddam Hussein killed millions of their own people and threated the rest of the world with the same fate. Islamofascists want to kill every Christian man, woman and child with suicide bombs. Illegal immigrants bring crime, drugs and disease and take advantage of social programs designed for American citizens, closing hospitals and murdering Americans.
Keep your eye on the ball, friend.

You know,i"read somewhere that the three richest people in the USA have a greater combined wealth than the sixty poorest nations. So few have so very much and so many millions have so little. If that is not a classic case greed causing suffering then i will never know what is.

Yeah, and last time (Desert Storm) we went into the oil-rich country of Iraq to stop Saddam's invasion of Kuwait. He wanted to take their oilfields, and he threatened to take the Saudi oilfields as well. What did he do when he realized we were winning? He set his own oilfields on fire in a "scorched earth" effort, and Americans, at great danger to themselves, had to put them out and restore order. Then we went away. Who takes the Iraqi oil right now? Primarily the French oil companies.

Coragryph. When the Russians wanted to take over the world, they called communism greedy. Now that America wants to take over the world, they call it...what?
What your saying makes no sense. If the spread of greed is capitalism, then what is anarchy?

This is human nature to want more and the more you have the more you want. You are not one of the lucky ones that has lots and by asking , you want more and to become one of the ones you despise now. May you win the lottery and share the money with the millions.

Yes. It is human nature that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. It is also a Bible principle that man cannot direct his own step.
