UV Protection is enough if your main concern is protecting your eyes from damage; polarization helps to eliminate glare so that you can SEE better in adverse lighting conditions....

It helps you to see better where there is water or reflections from water. That is why fisherman's sunglasses are polarized. They can look down at a lake and see fish or weeds where the fish may be hiding at the bottom.

Polarized glasses are mostly used by people going out on the lake or fishing. I prefer them. I have extremely sensitive eyes due to my Lupus. I wear Polarized glasses whenever I go outside since I have photosensitivity.
If you like extra protection from glare--- go for it.

Polarization is not necessary, but I find it important. Cutting the glare from the hood of my white truck, and cutting the glare from bodies of water is of immense help to me.

Polarization helps with the glare you get off of fthings that reflect - water, white surfaces (esp. snow/clouds! is skiing/snowboarding), and puddles, etc.

Polarization is good to have - it protects your eyws from things you don't kno are there a lot of the time.
