comparing kids is not a good idea. they're all different. mine was sitting & crawling before 7 mths, she never had a pacifier or a bottle in her life and thumb sucking wasn't an issue either. although she still loves to put things in her mouth to munch on them or just get a taste. she's 2 now

Well my son will be 8 months on the 29th. He is a thumb sucker he will not take a pacifier and the only toys he likes are toys that either move or make noise. He has just learned he can bang his toys and make noise like that. My son is a little a head of schedule in the fact that he was crawling at 5 months and could sit at 6 1/2 months and 2 weeks ago he learned that he could pull himself up.
Your baby will sit up in time and start to play and move about soon enough. Just have fun with him they are only little once!

My son was rolling around and sitting at 7 months, but that doesn't really mean anything. Before he could roll and sit, he liked to lay on his back and play with his musical gym. It is one of those things where the toys dangle down and when the baby kicks or hits it, the music plays. My son also liked to sit in his bouncy chair and play with rattles or bang on a keyboard. He had a stationary exerciser that he would sit, and bounce, and jump in that had little toy things on it he would play with.
My son had a pacifier - he didn't like sucking on his thumb. I stopped buying new ones when he was a year old. By the time he was two, he had given them up himself because he said it was "yucky". I think he bit a hole in the last paci he had, and it just wasn't very satisfying once it was all flat.

Well my daughter will be a year old on Saturday and she is as cute as a button, she was standing and taking steps at 7 months and she didn't take a paci ever nor a bottle nor a thumb although she did nurse and eat stage one baby food! Plus she liked toys that she could stand and interact with although she cared more for exploring the house and putting things in her mouth!

Each child develops at a different pace. That said, yes, my 7 month old sits up and plays with whatever he can get his hands on. His favorites seem to be things that he can easily push...the laundry basket, toy trucks and cars, etc. He also gets pissed if he can't manipulate the toy or whatever he is playing with, the way he wants to. He doesn't suck his thumb or use a pacifier. But he likes to bite on teethers.

your son should be sitting up by next month. Also by next month he should be able to grasp things and move his arms freely to grasp. I am studying psychology and just so happens that is what I am currently on. By 12 months he should pull himselp up to stand such as grasping the couch to pick himself up. By 15 months he should be able to walk but ya often fall down but no need to worry. Yes the paci hmmm.... its ok to give him it now but just takes him time to get him off of it. Little weird about the toys and not being into them. Maybe get a toy he likes. Take him shopping in the toy section. Push some buttons on the toys that light up and play music and sounds. If he grabs onto a toy that he sees or a toy he wont give back then that is what he wants you to buy him...much luck .

my baby has been sitting up since about 6 months. Prop him up on some pillows so he gets used to the view. She started crawling at 7 months....
She uses a paci more to just play with.
She is 9 months now and she is starting to walk and she is saying mama, daddy, papa, and uh-oh!

Every child develops on their own in their own time. The average for sitting up is 6 months, so get ready it will happen soon. Pacifiers and thumb sucking are OK, but the longer the child uses them, the more chances for problems with their teeth as they develop. Just a thought. Prayers =)

My son has his nuk and doesn't suck his thumb. He kind of crawls...he's not too good yet. He can get from his belly to sitting up. He's going to be 7 months on Sept. 6th! He LOVES his exersaucer and little sassy toys. Every child does things at a different time though! Good Luck and God Bless!
