It depends.
Sociology and physiology say that we express the love that we had first received from our parents. Many of us have grown up with love deficits in our hearts. While we may know we are missing something, we might not be able to identify the emptiness that resides in the deepest part of our being.
Some people afraid love, some other offers it, some other ignore it. For the first (and third) there is a deficit, for the second love is like a gift.
Personally I believe that If you give you take back, so I've learned to give!

Yes I do, as so many people now don't seem to know the meaning of love and respect. You see many people on this site that haven't a clue what love is. They see sex as sex and not something that stems from love in a relationship. I think there are too many commercials, TV shows and movies that are a very bad influence on society and show zero respect towards women and relationships. Porn is everywhere and it would not be if people didn't purchase it, so it shows the morals of our society and it breaks many relationships up. True love is slowly fading out of society so, all in all, there is an love deficit in our society.

Most definitely. As a society we are all working so much, all those long hours, and commuting as well. This is to the detriment of family life. I read a recent survey which said that the average parent spends as little as 15 minutes of their day interacting with their children. It's shocking when you think that we seem to have the wrong priorities.

We are also sadly bombarded with bad news on a daily basis. All the time we are seeing images of war, death. It seems that only the bad news makes the papers. It seems that we are at war in so many countries.

There is also the obsession with acquistion of material things. The latest IPod or lap top or cell phone. it's a never ending spiral of greed when actually our needs are very basic.

When we begin to reassess our priorities and begin to put an emphais on GDP...We should value Gross Domestic Happiness as opposed to Gross Domestic Product, then we will be truly happy and on the path to opening up our hearts and souls to love.

I think there is a respect deficit. Its the reason you get petty crime, racism, ageism, and criticism towards peoples beliefs.

You are right!
Why is this?
It is because the states and religions promote punishment! If there is fear, there is no love!
