I live in Vegas and the airport is right by this street I work near and I cruise at least 50 to 60 MPH or so and those planes would have to be going at least 100 MPH as fast as it leaves me in the dust. Any idea of how fast need to go to take off? I am talking about the planes like Southwest, American West, United Airlines, Delta and planes of those sizes.

Depends on the size of the aircraft. Large aircraft like a 747 or A340s need about 150 knots on rotation.
Medium to smaller aircraft (like the 737, A320s) need only about 130 - 140 knots.

SWA & AW fly Boeing 737 series aircraft.
for the sake of simplicity, we will use a 737 at medium TOW (Take Off Weight) and standard temperature/pressure and 5 flap for this answer. There are several variations of 737s. V speeds for the most common are as follows:

737-300:
V1=140 kt VR=141kt V2=148 kt
737-400:
V1=137 kt VR-139 kt V2=149 kt
737-500
V1=140 kt VR=140kt V2=146 kt

NOTE: 1 knot = 1.15078030303 mph, so 140 kt = 161 mph.

Hope this helps

your on the right track with a 100 mph but its actually 180 mph on take off then once they are in the air and at an altitude of 30,000 feet or so they will go about 650 mph

I think the triple 777 is 160 knots at rotation, which is about 185 MPH

on a boeing 747-400 the speed at whuch it can't reject a takeoff is about 120 knots and it rotates at about 145 or 150 knots . But it vary's with the aeroplanes and there sizes

Th jet I fly rotates anywhere between 1bout 105knots and about 119 knots (119-136mph). Its a relatively small jet though, so expect larger and heavier planes to be significantly higher
