(Atheist) one who believes that there is no deity
(Deity) 1 a : the rank or essential nature of a god : DIVINITY b capitalized : GOD 1, : SUPREME BEING
2 : a god or goddess
3 : one exalted or revered as supremely good or powerful
(Karma) 1 often capitalized : the force generated by a person's actions held in Hinduism and Buddhism to perpetuate transmigration and in its ethical consequences to determine the nature of the person's next existence
You are right you are an atheist. You believe the world works like a Big great clock, but if you believe that life works like a great big clock then their had to be a great clock maker. The words of Einstein. Some thing that is more supreme than us.

I'm not real informed on the whole atheist issue. I always thought it was people that had no belief in any God. I never assumed they automatically didnt have any other beliefs. I think you can believe in lots of things with out believing in a God. I do work with a guy that claims to be an atheist and he portrays the exact attitude you are questioning. ZERO belief in ANYTHING. So, maybe it just depends on the person. The believer, or non beleiver and the people who are interpretting these beliefs.

How do you believe in carma, or life after death or universal balance if you don't believe in God or higher power? Carma and universal balance are a higher power.

I find it interresting what people call religion. I don't see how believing in an incomplete thought would qualify. If you have no explaination for anything other than "a higher power," "Karma," "balance of the universe," and so on, then what you believe in is an incomplete idea.
In the name of mysticism and spirituality, You've failed to explore the meaning of life. That's why we say you don't believe in anyting.
Your beliefs have no origin, and no basis beyond your own mind! Christians are constantly accused of "creating God," but what have you done with your "religion?"

Atheists do not believe in personal higher powers. I mean, you could be an atheist and believe in karma, sure. An impersonal higher power is plausible in atheism.
But if humans have consciousness, must not their higher power be also conscious? Unless you are positing that there is some power higher than consciousness.
Which is fine. I mean, it's possible, I reckon, although I have a hard time imagining it. If there is design--and karma is, indeed, a design--must not that design come from some sort of consciousness? Or is it a deaf-mute thing? If it is a deaf-mute thing, it seems like a lower power, not a higher one.
I would be interested in hearing your thoughts about this.

You are classified as a weak atheist or an agnostic, which means you are borderline believing. Good for you! Strong atheists actually do not believe in any religion.

Atheist, by definition, reject anything which can be described as "supernatural"(including karma, reincarnation, life after death and so on). Lack of a Belief in God's doesn't make you an atheist.
What you describe is "pure" Buddhism.

My apologies, every Atheist that answers my questions tells me they don't believe in any religion or god and that when they die that's it lights out, no more. They also have told me that they don't believe in anything that can't be proven. Apparently you have never answered any of my questions.

I think your beliefs make you agnostic not atheist. To me atheist means believing in science for existance not the existance of a higher being. I find science explains most things (and in the future it will explain everything) to be honest i think my analyctical mind prevents me from putting faith in something i cannot prove exists.
