This is such a terrible question. So inhuman.......go to the Vet & have the dog put to sleep.

I think the word you're looking for is "euthanize". Try to convince "granny", that the time has come. The dog sounds like it is suffering, with no chance of survival. Only a slow agonizing death.
If I am, in my life, ever faced with being so sick and in so much pain, I wish that I could have a choice to be "put to sleep" without a court battle or without someone going to jail.
Please do not attempt to euthanize the dog yourself. I think it is extremely selfish to let any animal suffer and die.
Please talk to "granny" and convince her that euthanasia is best for the dog, and in the long run best for her. Most vets allow the owner to be present. There is nothing to feel guilty about -- as long as there is nothing else, within reason, that can be done.
I know if one of my dogs got to the point where it's life was all about pain and suffering and that there was nothing that could be done to cure it, I would be able - not without crying and guilt - but I could have it humanely euthanized.
My heart goes out of all of you.

The "tone" of your question seems to imply that you don't particularly care for this pooch. If that is the case then more than likely anything that those of us who love animals write will, in all likelihood, be ignored. Assuming I am wrong in that premise (and I hope I am) and that you do care for this dog, I would arrange with a vet to painlessly "put your pooch to sleep". Yes, it will cost you a few bucks but it is the "right" thing to do. If you love the dog it would be an act of kindness to hold the pooch while he slowly "falls asleep forever". Just remember, good or bad karma does not only apply to humans, kindness to animals will come back to you also.

it sounds a bit in human by trying to kill your grannys' dog just because she doesn't want to put it down. i understnad that it may hurt you looking at the dog go through all of this. and i understand that your granny wont put it down to take it out of it's missery but. think about it from your granny's point of view, she's old she has probably lost lot's of things that she loves in her life and is just not ready to give up her beloved dog. if the dog's in kidney failure then it will be a few day's and the dog will die on it's own.

I'd call the vet and have him come to the house, if at all possible and see if he would speak with Granny. You are correct in that the dog does need to be put to sleep so that it's suffering ends.

it's hard to lose a long loved pet, but i would take it to the vet, at least they can do something to help with your comfort and do what they can for the animals comfort ,a county shelter is a good place too, but its less comforting it's more impersonal, and when its done , its done , shooting the dog yourself is gonna be hard, and very hurtful, or you do have the choice of just caring for the dog, till it passes away, talk to the vet's is your best choice maybe they can suggest a better set of choices, or treatments that might help him, no matter what you decide, i hope things will go well for you

Killing a dog, sounds like you need to be taught how to care for a pet. If the dog needs vet attention, or medication. then get it for him. Or the local SPCA can teach you a lesson on humanity!
Don't own any more pets, you sound a little too immature to care for another living creature.
