A female PFC is raped in the military by her superior officer and offered as a pass-around-screw to other officers. Now this raped PFC has PTSD, won't turned the tv off at night, and her grandmother died and left her a picture of the person who originally raped her. How come VA won't give her disability? The doctors at VA says she's entitled, but they are making her go through a lot of hoopla and it has been 3 years since she applied. Anyone got any info that could help her? She's starting to freak out more.

To the person who says should you be sorry for people who have been raped. Well no one is asking for sympathy. I am a woman, and don't know what i would do if someone raped me. But believe me, men can be raped too! Rape scars a woman for life. This woman can't even hold a stable marriage because she has problems with sex. Veterans Affairs has the picture of the man, and is standing by her side.
This question was not asked to hurt anyone else's feelings, and unless you have PTSD, you wouldn't know what it feels like. Trying being shell shocked from the Vietnam war.
Women, like men, want to defend their country also. I just don't have the guts and glory, but I understand what and why she signed up.
As to the newspapers, she's afraid they will release her name or tell too much until they will know who it is. And believe me, Uncle Sam protects their own.

Her grandmother got involved when she called her grandmother after it happened. Her grandmother told her to report him, and that she was on her way. When her grandmother got there, she was sure to take a picture of him "Just In Case". When her grandmother passed in 2002, she was going through her grandmother's things and found the picture.
Back then, old people believed that you should keep your mouth shut, and keep it in the family, so that the family wouldn't be disgraced. I HATE THAT SHE DID THAT!
But as far as her records go, they seem to be lost. But check this out:
1. She reported the rape to the BC
2. 2 days later she was transferred
3. Grandmother got sick
4. They said she had to go home on an honorable hardship
5. She asked to be transferred to her local AF base
6. They said army couldn't transfer to AF
7. Once out she found out she could have been transferred
8. She was not given an exit physical.

Yeal, she went through the mental health and PTSD clinic. You'd be surprised to know how many people are afraid to tell those counselors anything. They are scared that the government is gonna come and kill them or something.

VA is the ones who told her of her condition, and veterans affairs is representing her.

applying for a disability is not an entitlement to a disability. Has the person had a C & P examination yet? Have any of the V A physicans recommended that she receive a disability pension? I would suggest that she have a service orgainzation represent her, such as the American Legion, Disabled American Veteran, your regional VA office will have a list of organizations. It takes time and if she is entitled then she'll get back pay to the date they determine she was eligible. If not, she can alway appeal.... It was not meant to be an easy process that anyone can simply walk into the VA and have some symptoms and a story and get a disability. My brother was paralyzed from the neck down in the Army and although he was receiving temporary disability payments from the VA it took 2 years to get his total disability settled.

Well you guys are a lot of help.

I'm not sure what the grandmother dying has to do with the situation as it relates to the VA, or what the picture has to do with things at all, but after three years your friend's best course would probably be to go to the press. If the doctors say she is entitled, than they are probably "losing the paperwork" as it were, because there are officers involved.

On the other hand, you're going to want cold hard proof, or your friend might be the one slapped with the short end of the stick. Sounds like no matter what course she takes, her military career is over.

Not an uncommon question, although, the VA will give her disability. I am going through the motions myself.

She needs to get to her local VA, go through the process of a psyche evaluations and speak with the counselor that specializes in this area.

Try contacting your member of the US Congress, either Representative or Senator, they should be willing to help.

PTSD is a joke. No offense, but she has to cope with it. I know it must SUCK to get raped, but I personally do not believe that it entitles her to recieve my tax dollars for the rest of her life.
Evidently the VA agrees
