It's my first year in high school and I feel intimidated. Does sophomores, juniors and seniors really have more rights in the highschool campus and freshmens are just like, no right at all?

No they're not all like this. And at my school, the only privileges that the seniors get is a special bathroom and the right to eat lunch outside. And seniors and juniors get the right to go to prom and the right to drive a car to school. That's about it.

Now people who hang around in cliques, that's another story. Some of them do pick on you, no matter your grade.

That's just a stereotype strongly created by tv and the movies. I know from personal experiences that seniors can hang out with freshman. It helps if you partcipate in an activity that has older students in it (i.e. a sport, club, yearbook, newspaper, etc.) then these older students get the opportunity to get to know you as a person not just a member of the freshman. These older students are great to have as allies because they've been there and probably have some good advice for you.
There will always be some bullies, some arrogant seniors, but also you'll probably find a few jerks in your class too. Stand up for yourself and get involved.

Some people like to perpetuate what they went through. They think that since it was done to them, they have the "right" to do it to others. In reality they don't, but it is still common.

The best way to deal with this is to find a good group of friends. You can deal with this better with a group and not feel so isolated. I know this is not always easy and may take some time, but look for the opportunities (clubs, sports, etc.)

Another way is search for a "cool" upperclassman that does not follow the herd. They can be a great resource to give you advice.

If the bullying is truly physical and/or violent, get the supervisors involved. If it is not stopped it may escalate until someone gets injured.

Most schools have anti-bully campaigns ad hotlines you can call if you are feeling threatened. class lines exsist in HS...yes, but if you feel threatened or intimidated tell someone. I went through HS and understand the feeling of being at the bottom of the "food chain" when you've been at the top. My suggestion, get involved. Find clubs that interest you. You'll meet friends from all classes and will be united by a common intrest. It's the best way to get through high school!

It will obviously depend on the school as to what level the upperclassmen "run" the school. In some schools, actually bullying might occur. Its normal to feel a little intimidated as a freshman. But just go about your business, don't be loud and obnoxious and give the upperclassmen a reason to dislike/bully you, and you'll be fine.

I'm freshman, too, but last year I took a class with a bunch of older high school kids and they were nice to me. Also, on my swim team, my friend and I are really close with a few seniors. It all depends on who goes to your school. Anybody could be a bully, not just upperclassmen.

Also, many classes are separate so won't see others very often.

I am a sophomore this year am freshmen have rights it is just you are new to the school and they think that they can run you. It is also to make show that they rule the school (even though they don't). By the middle of the school year they will leave you alone. You are just new to the school. They will leave you alone later in the year. Hope this helps.

Yes! and No!
My freshman year not a week int o school I got into a fight with a sophmore. He was alot bigger and stronger than me but I kicked his ***! It all depends on how you carry yourself which determines if you'll get bullied.

Now my senior year you would've probably hated me. Between classes I didn't care who was infront of me; I would walk own the hall arms wide knockin kids out the way. I even used to slap under classmen in the back of the heads. It all depended how they carried thereselves.

Yeaup... been going on since I was young and that was over 60 years ago... your time will come... just wait.

Of course, times have changed. When I was starting High School there was no such thing as Political Correctness and the idea of hazing had as much to do with making a man out of you and taking you away from your mommies apron strings as it was a right of passage from the babyhood of gradschool and toward the real adult school of College.

Today, it is more important for boys to have feelings and show their feminine side. than it is for them to know what being a male is like.

No. Not at all. If you're bullied tell your teacher, guidance councilor or principal. If nothing happens report it to the police. It's called assault & battery and it's against the law.
