Your kidneys use water and a process called osmosis to filter salt, urea and other waste products out of your blood. You do lose some vitamins and minerals in this process as well because your kidneys can't differentiate between different 'osmotically active' chemicals.

If you drink pure (normal) water your body has a much easier time cleaning out the wastes and keeping your salts at the right level and things.

The sugar or sweeteners and other chemicals in artificial juices are 'osmotically active' as well. Your body uses extra water to get rid of the chemicals and it has more difficulty in getting rid of the wastes and things that really need to go. Because your body is just trying to flush the stuff through, you are probably losing more of the good stuff that you need as well.

In conclusion, it is much better to drink plain water. I also think that non-caffeinated, un-sweetened herbal teas are just as good.

I squeeze some fresh lemons in mine. You can drink the "juice" ones. Just make sure there isn't any sugar added.

I would have thought they are not good for you at all. Many of them will have high levels of preservative and this usually consists of mainly sugar which as we all know is not good for us.
There are several flavoured waters available now which are not high in sugar and taste pretty good I think !

this bottle water craze has got out of hand, bottled water is not as clean as tap water because the FDA does bottled water the EPA who have much higher standards takes care of tap water. so anybody spending there money on bottles of water is just not smart.
