I think if a relationship is dying, it is because 1) someone or both people stopped trying, or 2) someone or both people are not communicating with each other.

I am really sorry to hear about the dying relationship. I think it could be helpful if each person would write out a list of things they think needs to change in the relationship. Then go to a public place (such as a coffee shop) so that both people will be able to keep their emotions in a relatively stable mannar. Next, go over the list, but take breaks. Also, the entire list does not need to be discussed in one night. If they can only get one thing on the list taken care of, that is great progress.

It is also helpful if both people have an understanding that they are not attacking eachother, but rather trying to reach a compromise so they can have a fulfilling relationship.
