i was stuck in an elevetor the other day with 2 guys and one kept saying LOL over and over again to his mate as they were talking...... GAAAH i felt like hitting him, why not just laugh?

It doesn't bother me when people use those terms online or texting because theres no other way to express laughter & things like that. However, the guy in the elevator would piss me off too because thats just stupid and im assuming he was gay.

Ok it comes from online gaming...obviously to say stuff fast b4 you kill the things...you are kinda rushed/// also it has evolved into a culture...n00b has gone from meaning "you are really bad at games" to in life "What a stupid n00b" at the blonde ditzy girl at you're class...basically it's underground...people do it to confuse you and yeah i've said "lol" to my friends at school it's funny that's why...

They are SAD (stupid and depressing) just made that one up.
I have had lots of jobs in lots of industries every where I have worked they like to have their Acronyms like they are sooo clever to be in the knowledge loop, and they just love it when you have to ask what they are talking about. I don't invariably they are fit to burst, knowing that they are talking gibberish but you aren't desperate to be let in on the code. Someone taking exception to my lack of desire challenged me with did I know what "HPL and GCS were". I replied "they are TLA's" They had to know what a TLA was and asked going red with irritation"

You know, it is quite disturbing and I'm not exactly sure what lol and Imao means. Sometimes I think people are text talking but then it turns out they're just bad spellers. Yes, it can be quite confusing at times. I do know what wtf and omg means though. Does that count as txt talking?

You are PWN-ed!!!!!!!!! As in you are "owned", it's frequently in mmorpgs. It also becomes a relfex, people write LOL so often that they start to say it. I run around tell people I pwned them all the time, it's more of a parody.

I KNOW!! I hate it too!! It's like "hi wht r u dn 2nt?" ..I hate it when my friends do that.. it's so annoying. I've realized that all of the kids that do the text talk have terrible english grades.. because of their grammer!! It's so stupid and I hope it stops soon!!

it bugs me as i don't understand it except for lol which i learned on here
