I think I read somewhere that he really needs to be young enough to technically have been her son, so probably 12 years. Anything more than 5 or 6 is going to start getting called that.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I don't think it has to be years - as long as the 'boy' is younger than is girlfriend he is a toy boy. As men are mostly mentally younger than us women then most of us have toy boys anyway :)
