why don't you just give her the $50 and she can either use it for something she wants from the store or she can use it for gas money since she is turning 16 and able to drive.

Get her a $50 gift certificate to her favorite store or something like that... I love getting gift certificates from my family... so if she really doesn't like the present she doesn't have to take it back

Firstly, you might want to say more about your sister so that people could offer better suggestions.
If she is crazy about a singer, then get her a CD that she doesn't already have. Or maybe she likes to read. Then get her a signed copy of something from her favorite author.

A sweet 16 card and maybe a necklace that says "sister" on it. It simple, sweet and it comes from your heart...and she'll remember that it came from you...I think you can get something like that for less than $50.

well 16 is a pretty big step for girls. so if u have like an old memory of somethng u used to do, get her that. or maybe what she would really like is just a lunch out with her sister, only you two. just to let her now that your still there for her.
