Mostly what makes me happy is being with my children. Also, in my job I'm able to do a lot to help other people. I've brought up two kids on my own and have been extremely strapped for cash for most of my adult life. I rarely have anything new and rarely go anywhere other than for walks - I have very little materially. I live in a council flat that I cannot afford to buy, but it is a stable roof over my head (I've lived in shop doorways and under hedges before now). I have no expectations and am content with my life and with the relationships I have with others, especially my children. My kids are both doing well (one in work and one still in full time education). Instead of worrying about the things I don't have, I focus on the good things I do have. As long as my girls are both happy, that's all it takes to make me happy.
