Some of these answers are just over the top! Any pediatrician worth their salt will tell you that some children go through PHASES where they will only want to eat the same thing over and over again. And like all PHASES they eventually grow out of them. I have a four year old daughter whom is doing the exact thing with hotdogs. Before that it was no bread. Not snapping at the enquirer just to some of the replies where they want to make the cild eat what they say. That has exactly the opposite effact of what you are trying to do.

I have to say, and apologies if you think I am being rude, this is a no-brainer.

Firstly, stop serving hot dogs.
Secondly, tell her she has a choice. She eats the food you put in front of her, or she goes hungry.

That does need a little sensitivity. Obviously, don't give her food she obviously doesn't like. Also, don't weaken and allow snacks if she does miss a meal and is hungry later. Hot dogs can then be a special treat if, say, she has been good that week.

I had problems with my children only wanting to eat certain foods too. My pediatrician said don't worry just feed what they like while offering healthy alternatives at the same time, like hotdogs with apple wedges for example. Over time they will not even like hotdogs anymore, but because they tried other things with their favorite thing they have a larger amount of foods they do like. My children now eat balanced meals with the rest of the family. Don't force foods that is where obesity is started. When a child is hungry they will eat when they are full they will stop.

Don't always give her what she wants. Both my kids were the same way because there dad gave them everything they wanted. My son didn't eat anything but Black olives and my daughter ate junk food. Need less to say I have custody now and they eat vegetables and fruits now. I just told them they had to eat cause they weren't getting anything else. They didn't eat one night and finally started eating what I feed them. My son is still a little pickey but some times if you lye to them about what they are eating they will believe you. I have to with my son. After he's done eating I ask if he liked it if so I'll tell him the truth of what it was and next time I have no problems with him eating. My son is 5 and my daughter is 4. Good luck

That's a tough one. You should at the very least switch her to some healthy hot dogs like ones from a health food store or Hebrew National hot dogs...at least they aren't made of parts like most other hot dogs. Maybe if you gave her some ones that she might think tastes gross like vegetarian hot dogs or soy dogs she might be ready to move on from them...but you'd probably have to tell her that this is how the hot dogs come now. That's just the way they are...we can eat something else if you want. Good luck!

Make her eat whatever you give her. If she refuses give her nothing until the next snack or meal time. At the next meal time give her the same thing you originally were trying to give her. If she goes to bed without eating anything for lunch or dinner one night I can almost gaurantee that she will eat whatever you want her to for breakfast the next morning. It may seem cruel, but it works. You need to put your foot down and show her that you are the parent and your in control. Of course if she is not eating make sure you give her plenty of fluids, I gave my daughter only water until she started eating what I gave her then I let her have milk or juice. but ultimately you are the parent of your child only you know what you think is best.

Stop serving hotdogs for a while. Serve her balanced meals just like the rest of the family eats. Tell her hotdogs are a "sometimes food," save them for when you're at the fair or a baseball game.

u can't make a child eat what u eat i tried that with my 3 yr old son , my son only eats fried food ( fries , nuggets, fish sticks...) , i gave up on making him eat . What i do now is serve everybody in the family with the same food on the plate if he don't eat it I'll give it to him later and so on....But if he don't eat nothing in the day than i make him a plate of fried food. So to some kids it is normal u are not the only one...and u can't make them eat other things its gonna happened on its on when they start eating other foods....Just make sure your child gets enough liquids in her body drinking water & juices is very important

This is a normal phase of childhood. All children go through periods of time where they have food aversions. I have a 4yr old son who is going through the same thing. Our pediatrician told us to offer him the other food anyway and when he gets ready to eat it he will. Be patient and as long as your child is gaining weight then everything will be okay.
