My BF went haying with my dad one day. He came home and reported that his back itched a lot. As the days went by he kept scratching and saying how it felt like something was crawling under his skin. When I looked, it looked like there was just a pimple there where it was itchy. About a week later we were lying in bed and I looked at the place on his back and it didn't look normal. Like a hardened swollen bump. I told him and he said squeeze it. So I did. Out came some watery pus, a little blood and finally something long and black. When we put it on a tissue it looked like a worm, my BF moved it around and it was moving its head! He said its some kind of worm but we don't know what. We were going to take it to the doctor to be analyzed so we put it in a pill bottle. Its dead now and not moving. It is the grossest thing I have ever seen in my life. Real small. The area on his back has yet to heal. It's healing slowly but has turned scaly (like dried skin) and started off a hardened bump

It has since softened around the area a bit now that its out. I havent been able to extract anything else from the site since (like another worm). What could this be? What could have burrowed itself under my BF's skin?

Most likely some kind of bug laid an egg under his skin. Ring worm is not a worm or insect its a fungal infection. I would take the worm to his doctor he can direct you where to go to have it analyzed. He should also go to have his back looked at to make sure there's nothing else there and it doesn't get infected. Hope this helps

There are some types of worms that burrow under the skin, but they usually come from some type of water source. In reference to the other answers, tapeworms do not burrow in the skin and ringworms are not actually worms; they are caused by a fungus. I would definitely consult a doctor.

I dont think it would be 'ringworm' because ringworm is a fungus and not an actual worm...I would def. see a doctor...
