I know it sounds weird, seeing as how most people want to keep their faces moist. Although I was born the opposite of most people. My face is ALWAYS oily. I'll wash my face in the shower and thirty minutes later, people will be asking me why I'm sweating. When I'm not showering and my face is oily, I'll take a cloth or a napkin and dry my face with it, and it will be oily 10 minutes later. When I wake up in the morning, sometimes my face is so oily that when I touch it, it feels like I'm touching a bike chain. I look a lot better when my face is dry and I like the way my skin feels when it's like that.
Does anyone know any products to keep my face dry and not forever oily?
Also, will this problem go away as I get older?
Thanks,
Gerard

I used to have a similar problem.... I fixed it by starting a regiment... Clean (I use Burt's Bee's lettuce soap), exfoliate (a loofa or natural aponge to apply the soap), TONE (I use Burt's Bees Toner), and moisturize (I use Burt's Bees Baby Bee lotion). You have to use lotion or your oil glands will go hyper-active on you. Mine always did until I started using lotion. It really does work even though it sounds weird. It was either that or get the perscription stuff that you put on your face after you wash it, and my family doesn't have enough money to get that.

Start by washing your face every time you shower with Zest or Dial. Scrub good. Don't worry - you can't damage your skin - our skin is a lot tougher than we realize. Next, find a cleanser that is meant for seriously oily skin - try a health food store. Clean with that. After your shower, use a toner for oily skin. DO NOT USE MOISTURIZER of any kind EVER. Keep the toner/astringent with you and use throughout the day. In fact, you can just use straight alcohol - it sounds like your face won't overdry. As soon as you see a reduction in the oilyness, make sure you get off the straight alcohol and move to an actual astringent/toner. If you overdry your pores, they produce MORE oil to compensate. Also, if you can afford it, go see a dermatologist. GLYTONE products are wonderful! They can be bought online or from a dermatologist. One last thing - a cosemetic surgery center usually offers microdermabrasion and other skin/facial solutions for very reasonable prices as well as specialty items - go visit one.

My sons don't have quite that much oil.
I have them use Witch Hazel (which contains some alcohol). Its astringent (drying) properties can help.
You can also get individual packets to be able to use durng the day.
Another good product line is the Desert Essence line. They make a good face wash, a roll on pen for touch ups and also pads for spot use.
Hopefully these will help. Also check your diet. Make sure you are eating lots of fresh fruits and veggies. Try to minimize caffine, oily foods, fatty foods, etc.
best,
cez

i have the same prob. i don't really know a solution though...i use a 3 step daily regimen but still as you say about 30min.-1 hour later my face is oily again. Here is a link with some helpful things to do...also i know you can go to a dermatologist and get a low dose of something called "Accutane" to make your skin stop producing so much oil, but i assume you don't want to go to that extreme, i know i don't!...by the way don't just keep washing it because that can cause you to produce even more oil!

I use tea tree moisturizing gel from the body shop. It gets rid of oily skin and keeps spots away. It works quite well, it was recommended to me when i went to a beauty salon once. You should mayb go to a beauty salon and get them to tell you if there are any good creams for your type of skin. Or mayb get some soap that dries your skin out. Id go to the beauty salon they know best about skin.

Seriously, if you go to the derm., he/she will give you a tube/bottle of this semi-thin, white cream that is a miracle worker! You put it on your face after you wash it in the morning, and poof! No more oily skin. It's great! :)

try using a cleanser for oily skin. don't use moisturizer(although you probably already know that).
It may go away as you age.
