sometimes salt will cause it to cloud up...but it won't hurt you

Could be either salt, pickling spices, or mineral deposits from the boiling process. As long as the jars sealed well, don't worry about it. A tsp of vinegar in the boiling bath water will get rid of the mineral deposits next time.

Depending on the type of pickles that you made, it's most likely the alumn or one of the other spices that has "settled". This wont hurt you, it just takes away from the jarred appearance. You can mix the spices with HOT water first to dissolve any impurities and that may help the next batch. Also make sure you check the date on your spices or spice packets to make sure they are still fresh. One other thing could be the reaction of the vinegar with one of the spices. I think if you read the pickling spice package it will note that this may occur.

On the outside is lime and minerals from the water you boiled the jars in.
