Xanax and alochol both work as depressants in your brain. When taken together they have a compound effect and can slow your brain down to the level that you may fall into a coma. You're dizziness might actually be a earlier form of that. In any case you shouldn't be taking alcohol with your pills. Even after 24 hours you can still have about 1/4 of Xanax active in your body. So when you are drinking it is most likely that the alcohol will be mixing with the Xanax.

I take xanax myself and it is not a good idea to take any kind of prescription medication with beer or any other alcohol. You might want to tell your Doctor what is going on with the dizziness, the xanax might be the wrong medication for you. If you continue to drink while taking xanax, it could end up taking your life.Oh by the way alochol tays in your system for over 24 hours.

My Uncle Darrell died in 1999 from beer withdrawal. It wasn't really his fault - his daily drinking habit caused him to lose his job, which led to a divorce, and eventually his homelessness. Most weeks, he was able to stand outside of the Home Depot and get some day labor work to support himself, even if it was just PBR. On weeks when he couldn't find work, he'd go up to 72 hours without a drink. He'd begin to get weak after 24 hours and start shaking after 48, but at 72 hours, he'd go into alcoholic shock. Inevitably, someone would take him to the Emergency Room, and they would have to strap him down to stop the shaking and enable them to hook up a beer IV. It was the spring of '99 when he finally lost the battle with alcohol. His blood-to-alcohol ratio just fell so low his body was unable to cope. Fortunately, his life has served as an example to his friends and family. I'm proud to report that his brothers Darrell and Seabass now drink at least a 6-pack daily, and have both taken up smoking to avoid any potential complications with nicotine withdrawal.

You know you can have blackouts from drinking alcohol and taking Xanax. The fun thing about that is you can take more Xanax while you are drinking and not remember. Then you overdose. I have had friends who overdosed and died. But have fun...
