It could be. If you pull your hair up very tight to smooth baby hair, or fly aways, you could be giving yourself alopecia, or the loss of hair. Unfortunately, if that is the case, your hair may never grow back. It is normal to lose 40-100 hairs a day. Try wearing your hair down, or if you wear it up, try wearing it in a low, loose ponytail. If you are getting bald patches or it is coming out in clumps frequently, see a Dr.

At 14 hair loss is not usually hormonal, so it tends to fall into one of three catagories:
Alopecia areata - an auto-immune malfunction. If you have this there is usually a very clear patch of scalp showing. If you have such a patch get it treated early.
Traction alopecia: This is where your hair style pulls the hair out.
Changing the hairstyle solves this :)
Stress can cause a lot of hairs to go into a resting stage so you see a bundle of hair in and around the plug hole.
