Having studied this topic alot, I can say that you better be very sure before you eat something. Many edible plants such such as wild onions resemble very dangerous ones such as death camas.

dangerous plants differ from edible plants. This dangerous plants are those what we call poisonous plants. These plants, when taken as a food this cause some health problems and even death. on the other side edible plants are those plants that are eaten. it is safe to eat these plants because they are edible.

that is a broad subject and plants in every area of the world are different. your best bet would be to find a book at the library that is specific to your area.
