An online class should mean less competition than a face-to-face course.

You will have time to think through everything you say, whether it's in a group chat discussion or on a posting to a discussion board.

Take advantage of this time to be thoughtful and to check your postings before you say anything - check for accuracy and grammatical errors. Nothing makes people look more stupid than typos and sloppy grammar online (well, maybe there are SOME things that make people look more stupid...).

Make sure you don't get behind, and, just like in a face-to-face class, ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS when you have them. It's really true that if you have a question, there's probably at least one other person who has the same question.

Best wishes!

I love online classes. I am a procrastinator and work a lot and barely ever have any time. I got all A's in high school and in college I am a C student, just because I don't really push myself as much as I should. I believe online classes are better, you have to push yourself to learn. It is a bit harder, but then it's not, you don't really have anyone telling you to do this and that, and no lecturing is the best part. There are plenty of people you can ask questions to as well. I have taken a variety of classes online from math to english to psychology. My strong point is math so if you have any questions message me and I will give you my email address. I love it. The good thing about online classes is you have deadlines, but you can also do things early. What I usually do is write out a syllabus for myself with the due dates, then I break them up into like 4 sections, and I will make 4 dates that I just need to sit down and do all the work. That way I can get it done early, and you may finish your whole college course weeks before it actually ends. Also you can do this at 3am, noon, 6pm, whenever, it is nice to work around your schedule. Any help needed send me a message!

Hey lil girl, where is your confidence baby. Remember you are as good/smart as others if not better. Everyone has strong and weak points. The best part is that your classes are online, all you need is to sit infront of a computer, its got nothing to do with situations in which you have to face people and be uncomortable with. You are starting something new, be optimistic, enthusiastic and let not let other feeling get to you. Best of luck.

I don't understand why you need to "compete" with other students. You do your own work and mind your own business, not others. We don't judge ourselves by looking at what someone else does. An online class is very impersonal, your interaction with others is limited, very different from walking into a classroom.

I just finished my first online course and it was MUCH easier than I anticipated. Make sure you keep good contact with the instructor and ask as many questions as you need to. Do homework/study on time or before or it is SO easy to fall behind. HTH
