I would like to find some good reading to send to my husband. He is in jail and we have been separated for over 2 years. He has finally reached out and I would like to send him things that reaffirm family and marriage.

For everybody who would like to know , we are have been married fo0r almost 2 years and he left after developing a drinking problem which turned into a drug problem. He is currently doing a 30 days sentence for contempt of court for child support for our son. So no I am not trying to baby him, but if he is reaching out I want to give him something that might do him some good.

FYI - to the one who was aking about him being black and me white, u r wrong we r both white but that does not matter. Why do people always have to put a race to this.

Also, please don't lecture me about the stuf that goes on behind bars. I am fully aware. He did a 8 1/2 yr trip to prison. But that was a little time ago. I do not care about any of that. It is in his past. I want to move forward and i know to be careful for myself and our children.

Readers digest

and the Mormons peddle that kind of crud too... The church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints commercials have books you can send for.

Do you know what they do to men in Jail? And honey, I hate to tell you, they don't wait, to slip on a condom before hand either!so consider that when he get's out... You can get herpes, hep A B or C you can get crabs, scabies, genital or facial warts, or worse... AIDS. and don't let him bullsh*it you into believing it doesn't happen because it does happen, to anyone doing any extended period of time.

That and the fact that he will never have a decent job or any kind of social credibility ever again.

Be happy for him, send him things, help him any way you want to but from a comfortable distance... but don't give your life up for another human being's mistakes. Move on and wish him well.

If there's any group that seems to be dedicated to building families, I'd recommend my faith, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They have some excellent reading material on that subject. I hate to just give you a website, but where you need something to take to him, I'd look here:

http://www.mormon.org/learn/0,8672,1149-1,00.html

You can order some materials, which usually are free. If you don't want missionaries to deliver them, just say so, and they'll mail them.

When he comes out he will not be the same guy you fell in love with, trust me, I know. He will have a hard time adjusting to life outside. Be careful. I hope I'm wrong, in your case.

A subscription to Reader's Digest? Have you mailed him anything yet? You might want to check that it doesn't have to be sent from an approved shipper like www.amazon.com. They can't be sent from a residential address. You could send them from places like books-a-million, but you have to request special shipment.
