Because some Christians are thick headed and close minded. That's how they were brought up, I guess. Some Christian churches brainwash people. I know because I used to attend a church like that when I was younger, but I am a follower of Christianity as well as Vedic wisdom now. If you believe in the Lord, then I don't see what's wrong with opening up to new religions as well as Christianity.

All religions in the world make claims about God. Even atheists make claims about God when they say, "There is no God." But not all claims that affirm God are same. Muslims beleive in a unitarian God, while Christians beleive in a trinitarian God. Jehovah Witnesses claim that Jesus was not God, but evangelical Christians do. Buddhists don't have a God per se, but claim that everything is part of something larger. The Buddhist veiw is clearly different from the Muslim and Christian views of God.
Suppose I say that cats are mammals and dogs are mammals. Then I conclude that cats must be dogs because they are mamamls. In doing so I would commit the fallacy of undistributed middle.
What defines a religion are the claims that religion makes about God. If two religions make claim different claims about God, then either they are talking about different Gods or some of the claims they are making are false. If the latter is true, then that means there are false religions, and not all of them lead to God. If the former is true, then one would have to drop or change the claims in any given religion makes in order to make it compatible with other religions. If one does this then the religion they changed is no longer what it was originally by definition, and thus not the same religion. If I drop the claim that Jesus is God, then the Christian religion is no longer the Christian religion by definition, but something else. So to say that "religions believe in the same God" is not true, because it commits the aforementioned fallacy.
Christians believe that Christianity is the only true religion base on the claims it makes, and if it drops those claims, then it is no longer Christianity.

Well consider for a moment that there is a vast difference between what Christ did and what humans have done. Consider that Christianity as a whole is several things not one. One small part of it is the real and pure thing that Jesus Christ started and pleases him. It's very faint and very small and exists in the midst of all the headache we know as the religion Christianity which Chirst himself opposed. Then consider that Jesus Christ is actually who he said he was, The Son of Man, fullfiling all of what scripture said of Him. This would mean that He is the Living God who has no equal and no one is like Him. Then consider that if this is true all other would in fact pale in comparison to such a one who would be the Creator of everything.
Of course a Buddhist a Sikh or a Jew may in their heart may know this God and worship Jesus but just in their way unbeknownst to judgemental Christians that are the reason this question is being asked.
Consider all this and you'll see that it's not as black and white but when closely and carefully examined one can see that even grey is made up of black and white.

It is because sometimes people are taught that their way of thinking is absolute and that their truths are the only one out there. They may acknowledge other religions but that doesn't they care about other beliefs. Then you have the fanatics that declares anyone not part of their religion is a heretic against their god(s), even if the basic principles of the opposite religion are similar. Take for example Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. They all worship one god but it is the differences in how they worship that god that has them opposing each other. Also, those who say that their holy book say so are a bunch of biased, misguided fools.

The core of Christianity is that Jesus is the only way to restore a right relationship with God.
The Book of Romans in the Bible says all have sinned and that Jesus is the only atonement acceptable to God.
Belief in God is not enough!
Here is a online book that will explain Christianity. It is a free and informative link!
http://www.pbc.org/library/series/10307
The media and academia are distorting the teachings of Christianity by presenting fringe groups as mainstream. This book explains what the people who use the Bible as scripture believe.
Hope it clears things up even if you still disagree!

If you (not you specifically but 'you' in general) don't believe that your way is the only way, then how can you say that you have complete faith in your religion? In order for you to be worshipping your God with your whole soul and heart and strength, you must believe that your way is the right way. This should be true whether you are a Christian or whatever you may be. There's no point in worshipping if you are not convinced that you are in the right religion.

All Christians believe Jesus is the only way, actually. It's because we all have sinned, and other religions don't completely address the need for forgiveness of sin. The good works/bad works scale is arbitrary at best. Full justice combined with full mercy in Jesus Christ is how we are made righteous before God.
He said Himself that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no man comes to the Father except through Him. We adhere to that because to do differently would be to deny our very faith, and to leave unbelievers with uncleansed sin, which logically makes them incapable of going to Heaven.

I noticed in your question you refered to Catholics as not Christian. I thought that very amusing knowing the history of Christianity.
You see, Christ started Christianity and it was one church also known as the Catholic Church. It says so in the Bible if you have an older translation of it. Peter the Apostle was the first Pope. From that point on, there have been people who have gone against the rules of Jesus Christ Himself and claimed to be "reforming" the Church. The Church cannot be reformed, you see, as God is unchanging. People now a days who claim to be nondenominational Christians are actually Protestants. Their religion was started by men who thought they knew better than Jesus. Take Martin Luther for example. He started his Lutheran Church because he disagreed with Jesus' Catholic Church.
So, techniqually speaking, Catholics ARE the true Christians.

The bible clearly states that Jesus said," I Am the Way". That means to be able to enter the kingdom of heaven you must believe in Jesus Christ, that he died for our sins, and that he rose from the dead and returned to heaven to be with God. I don't know of any other religions that can say they have or had a Savior that died for their sins, and rose from the grave to take all their sins and cast them away as far as the east is from the west. Simply explained, its called faith.
