I did slowly reduce my dose over a weeks time like the doctor suggested. I was taking 50mg of Cr. I called him today but he is not in the office. I was just wondering if anyone else reduced that quickly and how long the side effects lasted.

That is too fast. Go ahead and take a dose and wait until the doctor is back in the office. Demand some regular Paxil, similar strength. Then start cutting the regular Paxil pill up into pieces and slowly decrease the dosage. You will still have a bad time of it but you can do it then. After you take the dose today, then tell me if it isn't an addiction to the stuff. You will feel fine in a half an hour.

I had more trouble stopping Paxil than I did getting off narcotics. I ended up SHAVING a little bit off the pill every day with a razor blade to decrease the dosage. Paxil is addictive and don't listen to anyone who says it isn't. My doctor was no help. He said continue taking it. I got off against doctor's orders and am sane for the first time since I started taking anti-depressants. I took them for 13 years. Paxil for 4 years. It was a horror.

Take care and good luck.

The side effects usually last up to two weeks. The dizziness and weakness lasts about a week. Then slowly you begin to feel normal again. I would talk to your doctor and check to see if you should be taking another medicine in place of Paxil CR. I was put on another medicine and feel great. I feel normal.
