240,000 miles to the moon [give or take a few feet]

5280 feet in a mile

12 inches a foot

5280 ft x 12 in = 63,360 inches

63,360 inches / 28 inches (per step) = 2262.9 steps

2262.9 x 240,000= 543,096,000 --approximately!
