Since Christians and Jews are refered to, by the Qu'ran, as people of the book.
Why in some Muslim countries are the people of the book being enslaved, taxed, persecuted, and thrown into prison? Why are women victims of rape being hanged and stoned? And from where did they get the abominable idea of honor killing?
Do you think it's cultural, tribal etc. If their ideas are not from the Qu'ran then where are they getting the ideology?
DO NOT give me any nonsensical answers like "Well in the Bible it says" for some misguided defence, just out right answer the question please. Or, just say thanks for the 2 points.

The Middle East is but a shadow of its former glory.
It wasn't always so violent and unforgiving.
Militant Islam, unfortunately, has overcome it's peaceful counterpart.

Perhaps, like in some countries, they feel that since the Bible and/or Torah has lost its purity due to mistranslation, that there are no 'real' people of the book. But that's beside the point and I do not share this opinion.
Perhaps, and this is what I think is most likely, I think it's more cultural/political rather than religious. Kinda like some European countries not welcoming immigrants. Or misuse/misunderstanding of religion. There are so many of those who call themselves 'Holy Men' who are not representing the religion well.
You should identify the countries in which these things occur and see how and why things are done. I can assure you that not all muslim communities hang their rape victims or commit honor killings.

I'm not a Muslim, but according to the tone in your question I do think you should go to a library and read some books on Islam. And honor killings isn't provided by Islam. It's a culture phenomena and occurs not only among Muslims, but also among Arabic CHRISTIANS. What do you Christian - Americans think about that?
