Your mind is still in full gear from being at work and using your brain all day... you need some time to wind down before your brain can be ready for sleep. Relax for awhile when you get home, THEN try and attempt sleep.

Probably because you need time to wind down. If you really need to go to bed after work, give yourself 15-30 minutes in a low-light setting to just relax and let the day drift off. Don't turn on the TV and don't read -- those will keep you awake. Some mellow music would be better. Also, don't eat or drink anything with sugar or caffeine in it before bed -- BAD news altogether.

Probably you're stressed and can't relax right away. Plus it's depressing to have to do that. It feels like all you do is work and sleep. Take a half an hour to do something relaxing when you get home, watch tv, read a book. Even if you have to miss out on a half hour sleep to do this it will be worth it because you'll sleep better.

Your mind needs to be at rest for you to go to sleep. When you get home from work, whether you realize it or not, your mind is still in "work-mode" and you're probably thinking through things that happened during the day, what you need to do the next day, etc. It happened to me when I worked the closing shift at a sub shop a few nights a week. I would get home at a decent time (12:30am) but wouldn't be able to fall asleep until at least 4am.

Because you need to wind down-your mind is still thinking about things that you've done through out the day...Try reading a book, watching TV, taking a hot shower-do anything you know of that will make you sleepy. If these things don't work, talk to your doctor.

Because your body has been on the go. You need to come home and wind down- take a long warm bath or shower, drink some wine whatever helps you to relax.

You need to wind down. Find a relaxing process that leads up to bedtime. When it becomes a routine, your mind will automatically start to say, 'Time to sleep soon'.

because you are all wired, you just got home and your mind is still spinning..
as soon as you get home from work, do what relaxes you.. have a drink, get in comfortable clothes and just sit in front of the TV or get a book.. whatever floats your boat..
or you could smoke a joint, that would knock you out faster than anything.. LOL

cause your body is still in "moving around, work mode"
It takes time to unwind... hormone levels need to regulate themselves (adrenaline, testo. etc) need to get back to homeostasis before you can really relax. It's part of the old fight or flight response... the body wont let you sleep if it is excited at all.

Also, try pot! solves the problem for me! lol
