Rather than using a website, I would recommend you use personal networking instead. There is hardly a worse time to find out you are incompatible with someone than when you are on a trip with them.
Think about the broad parameters of your ideal traveling companion (such as male/female, age range, general areas of interest), and where you intend to go. That will give you what you need when you ask your friends for referrals.
Then, approach your friends. They know you and they know their other friends. They won't put you together with someone who is incompatible with you. Ask them if they can refer you to one of their friends who ... (fill in the parameters).
