okay trying to keep this short-ish.
Guy I've been seeing we decided not to add titles into our relationship because we want to keep the pressure off because we've both recently came out of serious relationships.
The other night while hanging out with some of my friends my best kept referring to him as my boyfriend. The first time he made a little joke to me 'so I'm yours - it's official' and then stopped saying it as the night went on. When we got back to his place we had a serious conversation and then he brought it back up saying that it was awkward since we've not decided that's what we are. A little while later before we went to bed he starts making little jokes again about how i'm going to start leaving my toothbrush and clothes there because i'm over so often..

I'm not sure if he's trying to hint at going to that level or needing me to back off.. he's normall very direct and when he doesn't want to be - he won't be.

any thoughts?

You should be able to be honest with this guy. Ask him straight out what his joking around meant because it leaves you confused and you just want clarification. I am sure he will tell you by what you say. Good luck

I think he is still smarting from his last break up so he is using humor to check out how you feel about this label "boyfriend". He is joking about you leaving your things to see your reaction. I think he may be ready to try the label on for size but don't rush anything just yet. You might, however, consider asking him to buy you a toothbrush as a show of his good faith...just for fun!

Hmmm...
My philosophy is if they don't want to be a boyfriend or whatever then they're not worth the time because you start getting into confusing situations like this. I hate to say it, but he might just be using you for sex since he just got out of a serious relationship. I'd tread carefully.

Maybe for the first time he's really considering these things with you. He might be joking as a way to bring it up without bringing it up. He's probably thinking it over in his head and could thinking out loud. I would try not to think anything of it. He'll bring it up when he's ready. For now, just continue what you're doing and tell your friends to watch the labels in front of him! He has a name, they can use it. :)

By what you describe, you are dating and he's your boyfriend and you're his girlfriend. Stop fighting it. You may both be on the rebound but it is what it is. I wouldn't suggest moving in together however. I had a very similar experience and by moving in together it put too much pressure on the relationship too fast and we broke up. She was a real catch too and to this day I regret having moved too quickly.

Like you said , hes direct so if he didn't like the idea of someone calling him your bf then he probably would 've said something either to them or to you, maybe you need to talk more and find out what he wants to do and let him know your not moving in on his space.

it sounds like he probably been think about it and just doesn't know how to brig it up since you both agreed to keep it a lose whatever relationship, i saw here's your first test with each other wait to see if he can be open and honest with you like a true partner should and you should think about doing the same with him

i think u should've asked him right then and u wouldn't need answers now but i think u should ask how he feels about moving onto the next level or if he plans to stay on this same plateau for a while
