The original Old Testament law against marking up the body was because in Biblical times other religions used those markings as forms of worship to foreign gods/ancestors. In context, the law was speaking out more against the worship of foreign gods than body art.

relies upon on the PIERCING! & the tattoo... I even have many piercings and a tattoo. None of them harm too lots that i'd say the soreness will no longer be worth it. nevertheless i'm very skeptical approximately getting my nipples completed, through fact i understand they're going to harm like hell! In all honesty, the therapeutic is what's the worst with piercings, no longer the unquestionably piercing. case in point, when I have been given my tongue pierced i could no longer consume or communicate generally for some days. And so a techniques as tattoos flow, the worst area is making an attempt to take a seat down completely nevertheless while your organic reaction is to balk slightly. The slightest circulation is a substantial deal, yet its no longer something that would desire to deter you no rely if that's something you go with!

I don't know that it's a mortal sin, but it isn't very nice. The Bible says our bodies should be treated with respect because they are our personal temples to the Holy Spirit. It's not very respectful or nice to see a parade of young girls at the mall with these dirty looking leaves or whatever sticking out of the seat of their pants. Some guys with tattoos all over their arms and neck look postively unclean. As for piercings, that's over the top. I do not like having to deal with anyone that has metal poking out of their face, doesn't matter if they are on the register at the grocery store or bringing my salad, I always go to someone who looks cleaner.

It is not a sin, but I read in the Bible that our bodies are not our own and should not mark it ( or pierce it) because it ( your body) does not belong to us, it's God's .....I think ear piercing is fine not too many though.

There is a prohibition against cutting yourself and leaving permanent marks on the body in the OT (Deuteronomy I think) because such things were used in pagan worship. I know that you can't be buried in a Jewish cemetary if you have tattoos and piercings.
Personally I just think they're in poor taste. Why hang on your body a picture you wouldn't hang on the wall?

I heard from some people that it is, but I don't think so. Somebody told me once that God said be in the world, not of the world, but I just think that means do things because you feel it is right for you, and not because everybody else said to do it. I mean, do you really think God is going to reject me at the Pearly Gates just because I've got a nose ring? (Among other things...lol)

I don't believe so. Covering your body on the outside with decorative art doesn't change who you are on the inside. I had that fight with my mother a couple years ago concerning me getting my cartilage pierced and how it made me look like trashy and stuff but the thing is that tastefully done it doesn't look trashy at all and it didn't change who I was.

The original meaning of "sin" is "to error" or to make a mistake.
So if you get a prince albert and it gets ripped out in a snowmobiling accident... then yes it is sinful.

There is a scripture in the bible and of course I can't remember which exactly, but it describes the body god has given you as a temple and if one agrees, why would you basically put graffiti on your temple?
