Every day Im cleaning up my cats hair balls and puke. I'm willing to pay whatever it takes for special food or whatever, as long as I know it's going to work

Its mostly the puke that is the problem, it's so gross cleaning it up, and it messes up clothes and funiture, and its hard to get it out

Vomiting and throwing up hairballs more than a few times a week would lead me to suspect that this is a reaction to the cats' food.
Something in it is not agreeing with them.
Read the label on the food bag. Are two of the first three ingredients corn? Corn is a known allergen for cats and dogs.
So I suggest you switch to a food without corn first. CA Natural, Natural Balance and Prairie make foods that have rice as filler. You will have to look for a small pet store to find them. Though I have found the NB in our local discount pet store.
Click on my name under the icon for directions as to how to make a switch from one dry food to another. It will take about three weeks to do it right.
I think this will do the trick. If it happens that your cats are allergic to chicken then you will have to go to something else.

There are several cat treats out there that have hairball reducing qualities to them. I've tried them and I haven't had a hair ball in months and neither have my cats! LOL They work really well. I tried Pounce and Friskies treats.
There are also dry foods with hairball remedies.
The next step is to try a product specifically made for hairball treatment. I think Hartz has a paste you can put on the cat's food or just feed them with a little on your finger.
The most expensive is to consult the vet but hopefully one of these other remedies will work first.
Hope this helps and have a great day!!!

The brand of food is great! I would encourage you to see if they have one for hairball treatment. Also try to brush your cats a few times a week and it may help. Some people also get over the counter hairball treatment separate from the food. You place a little bit of the ointment on their paws and they lick it off and they pass the hairballs better. Contact your local pet store or Vet!

Well, if you're willing to pay whatever it takes, then get your cat to the vet to make sure it's nothing more than hairballs causing this. Assuming it is hairballs, brushing your cat to remove the dead hair frequently will help immensely. When you have her at the vet, ask what diet they would recommend. There are prescription diets that help a variety of problems...including upset stomach. Your vet may also prescribe medicine that will keep her from vomitting as often.

Try a food with VERY little corn, and NO artifical colors. As a test, try Iams original for a few weeks and see if it helps. Some cats are sensitive to those ingredients. If it seems better, you can go to the supply store and get en even higher quality food. Sometimes the hairball foods have corn and cause the vomiting also.

It Might not be the Food ! .. I use a Cream , you can buy at PetsMart , or PET-Co , You place a lil dab on there Paw an let them lick it off , it helps dissolve the hair in there Tummy. I have 2 long haird cats , an it works GREAT !! oh an Brush the Kitty , that always helps reduce the amount of hair that goes in the tummy !

My cats have had some success with Friskies Hairball Remedy treats. It's in a goldish package with the Pounce, Whisker Lickins' and other treats. Just make sure to follow the directions...you don't want to give them too much because I think it can interfere with nutrition absorption. Good luck!

my dads cat used to throw up alot too, then the vet recommended science diet lamb and rice cat food. it is supposed to be very easy on a cats stomach. it worked really well, and the cat seemed to like it too. im not sure if that could help with hairballs, that could be a separate problem. good luck :)

go to your local nursery and buy some grass. This stuff is used to help with digestion. Any type of grass will work but regular lawn grass is the best. Oat and wheat grass is availiable at pet stores and most walmarts. If you live in an apartment just buy a pot and water every day. Its an easy plant to take care of.

MY CAT WAS DOING THE SAME THING. HE WAS EATING, PLAYING AND SEEMED OK BUT HE WAS HURLING AND LOOSING WEIGHT, TOO. AFTER CHECKING MY CAT OUT MY VET SAID HE HAD A TUMOR IN HIS STOMACH. MY CAT WAS ABOUT 16 AND THE VET SAID HE COULD POSSIBLY DO SURGERY BUT MY CAT WAS SO OLD THAT THE ANESTHESIA COULD KILL HIM. I GUESS CATS DON'T DO WELL WITH THAT. THERE WAS NO GUARANTEE MY CAT WOULD BE CURED EITHER. YOU MIGHT BE BETTER OFF SPENDING YOUR MONEY ON AN OPINION FROM YOUR VET TO MAKE SURE IT'S JUST HAIRBALLS MAKING YOUR CAT 'YACK' .... MY KITTY DIDN'T MAKE IT, I HOPE YOURS IS OK.
