There are many people strive for leadership rolls, particularly young people who have not even learned the importance of serving. Jesus came to serve and not to be served. Sadly there are some who are self-seeking and use their church as a social club.
I also see that ungodly doctrine is creeping into our churches, such as the big faith and prosperity teachings, which are contrary to the Word of God. Yes, we all need faith, but it comes from God, and yes God does want us to prosper, but in every way, not just financially. The reason God allows us to prosper, is so with our overflow we can give to others whether it be financially or otherwise.
Paul stated that he knew what it was to have, and what it was to be without, and he knew Godly contentment. Some of our churches have become very materialistic. May the Lord forgive us. Let's all seek His Word, and come away with a balanced understanding of God's Word. Heal our lands O Lord I pray, and let it be said of us that we are wise because we have sought for souls for the Kingdom of God. Let Your Kingdom come, and Your will be done, in earth as it is in Heaven.

I think people hide behind god to justify their actions. I also think that the general christian mentality is being lost. Christianity used to set out the moral standards for living life but even christians ignore those moral rules. One of the things i have seen the most of on these forums are christians stating they are right and others are wrong, even though they cannot give evidence to back up their statements.

segregated churches....to much racism which contradict Christianity in itself...churches are too big and impersonal...too hard to make real relationship with people and have a church family away from home....money is too important to televangelists...they set a bad example and disgrace Christianity with their gold rooms and chairs and their lavish clothing and jewelry...the women almost pass for hookers....I don't watch evangelical television anymore for these reasons....I know there are many true Christians out there with good strong binded churches but there are far to many that create an unspiritual contempory environment with too many luxuries....I feel as though in this period of time many more people could have been helped with all the money that circulates in churches...disappointing

I think the problem with most christian churches, ect is that they get too wrapped up in society. They have to have the biggest , prettiest buildings,, the members have to dress the best,, they have to have the biggest congregations,, best music,, ect ect.. some of the most spirtiual experiences I have had,, have been in the smallest , poorest church I have ever gone too,, or in no church at all just with myself and god.
I think we would do better to go back to basics of christianity.

I think that mainline Christian churches in this day and age fail horribly when it comes to promoting tolerance, love, charity, liberty and justice for EVERYONE. They give a lot of lip-service to these ideals, but I fail to see them being practiced. Usually you're accepted and offered tolerance from these churches if you're mainstream yourself. Homeless people, drug addicts, immigrants, etc. only get condescending lip-service and are not actually made to feel welcome and to feel God's love in these places.

Lasciviousness. Those Christians who believe that since they are saved and can confess, they can sin and get away with it. There are so many that I have seen who think that their lives are for themselves, that what they do doesn't affect how others see Christians. We need to stop worrying about having the latest (immodest) clothing and start thinking about who needs encouragement in our lives.

We have to take every OPPORTUNITY to spread the Word of the Lord, but you cannot have opportUNITY without UNITY. A lot of churches in my area are now uniting (crossing the lines of denominations) to spread the Word together.
