My daughter also has very hairy legs and I would never consider shaving them. Fortunately she doesn't get teased about it. I am mostly writing so that you know that it is fairly common and it does not mean there is something wrong with your child.
If wearing short pants makes her feel uncomfortable, then fine, there is no requirement that she wear them is there. Long skirts have come back into fashion so she could wear those and still stay cool in warm weather without feeling uncomfortable.

Definitely, do not start shaving her legs. She's way too young. That'll just make you and her even more miserable. It's alot for both of you to keep up with at such a young age.
I'd talk to the principal and teacher and see if something can be done about it. Kids will be kids, but needless picking should be stopped. Point out to her that they all have their own faults too....nobody is perfect.
Have her wear longer comfortable items. If it's too hot for pants, try capris or gouchos. They'll cover up just enough of her legs. Also try some longer skirts.
Good luck!!

Wow this is very tough. I think I would maybe shave them. I know it's very early but I had the same problem as a young girl. I have very dark hair so it was so easy to spot. If talking to her doesn't work and letting her know that she still too young to shave .. I guess I would have to resort to shaving them. It's so hard being a kid and other children can be soo cruel. I think I would talk to her and let her know that in a few yrs she can shave them and if it is still a problem.... maybe bleach them before I would shave them. But I would do something ... this kind of bulling made me very self conscious about my hair to this day. Use talking first and shaving as the last resort! Good luck and it's a shame that your little girl has to put up with this. Kids should be kids!

poor kid. My daughters all have very hairy legs too, but have never been made fun of. Thats when I would have went to that school and told that teacher she needed to be having a discussion with the class about treating people the way they would want to be treated and I would have sat right there in the classroom while she did it too. Sometimes you have to get pushy with the school and make them make the kids behave, you can only control how your child acts to others, and if the other kids parents aren't gonna teach their kids how to treat people with respect, then make the school do it.
SHAVE HER LEGS???? She's six for cryin out loud, she shouldnt have to change her appearance for ANYONE, that sounds like a parent who doesn't want to teach their child how to respect others. She doesnt need fixing the other kids do.

Do Not Shave her legs.!! She's only six. People come in all levels of hairiness. Besides that what kind of lesson does that teach. If someone does not like something about you run out and change it? If she prefers to wear long pants then let her, it's not going to kill her.

Dont shave her legs! She is way to young. I went thru the same thing. I have dark hair and got picked on by kids at school. Buy some nair and use it. It is wonderful because the hair will not grow back stiff like if you shave it. I have been shaving since I was 8 and I regret it terribly!

Maybe have her puberty gland tested to see if its progressing faster that she is. But I wouldn't recommend shaving her legs, she's only six and she shouldn't have to worry about that responsibility yet. Ask her if other girls in her class are already shaving their legs, the answer is probably no, then just tell her that she shouldn't have to worry about it. If she can't stand the mean kids just tell her to ignore them and they should eventually stop. Good Luck

I really feel for your little girl. I too had extremely long dark black hair on my legs at her age. i was so embarrassed and still am. I would-not shave her, maybe bleach. I think it is better to realize that ALL kids have something, big ears, nose, fat, skinny, short...hers is HAIR. My Mom used to let me tell kids I was part Werewolf - it was cool for awhile!
good luck and make sure she knows she is not alone!

You should buy the veet stuff all you do is put it on her legs leave it on for 3 min. and wash it of and the hair will be pretty much gone.
(it might burn a little the 1st time or if she has cuts on her legs.)
