There's too many of them, they're upping our crime rate and putting British people out of business.
Sorry to be harsh. I'm not racist, but I think something has to be done about the current situation.

My grandfather served the British army and after World War 2 was allowed to enter Britain to fill the labour shortages. Most of the stories on asylum/immigration are just scaremongering.
The truth is that many of the jobs that are being taken up by immigrants are the sort of jobs that the indigenous people are not filling.
Most of the early immigrants have integrated into society and made a positive contribution to Britain. Offspring of immigrants (such as myself) view this country as their own and take offence to being told they are not loyal to Britain.
Most people coming to Britain are economic migrants. Most are willing to work and contribute to society but are not allowed to do so legally because of their illegal status.
Overall although I feel immigration has been good for the country (especially when you consider the population demographics) it is time that it be severely restricted in order to avoid a backlash from the indigenous population.
A feeling of deprivation exists amongts some white lower -middle class families and quite often their frustration is vented against the immigrants.
A serious debate must take place and the media must play a responsible role in facilitating an honest, open and fact based debate.

This country is overcrowded, we have 2 million unemployed and its about time the government started giving a shite about the Brits who are already here - providing THEM with jobs, affordable homes etc, instead of giving freebies to anyone who comes begging from other countries.
They should be looking after their own first.
Asylum seekers and unskilled immigrants just make it harder for ordinary, unskilled British people to get jobs. Because the Brits are having to compete with someone who will work for half the wage and poor working conditions - so guess who gets hired?!?
It stinks and I want this government to clamp down on immigration unless it is highly-skilled immigrants coming in to fill jobs that are hard to fill from within the UK population.
Anyone who wants to come here has to prove they have a job and can suport themselves and that their skills will benefit Britain. Otherwise, tough shite, go somewhere else. This country is full.
As for this utter SHITE spouted by the left that "immigrants fill the jobs that native Brits don't want", well if thats the case why are 2 million unemployed, and also - tell that to half the unemployed native Brits I know who would take ANY job that was offered to them but can't compete with some East European who will do the same job for much less pay and rights. Half the immigrants I know drive round in big flash cars anyway so their jobs can't be all that bad.
People need to wake up and see what awful lives some of our indigenous British people have to endure. Or are they too stuck up in comfy middle class land to realise this? Try visiting any local homeless shelter or council estate.

I have no problem with people genuinely fleeing persecution, nor with immigrants that work and don't try changing the country that they have been accepted in. I have a massive problem with a country being changed so much just to accommodate these people though and the original occupants leaving because their home country has become unrecognisable.
I think the UK needs to take a firm hold now or it's going to have bigger problems. There have already been clashes brought to the UK between waring gangs from different tribes. Something must be done and done now.

It has been badly managed by the Blair government. Anyone not here on a legal basis should be sent home. Asylum is not a right. In fact the seeker should go to the next safe country. So we should only have asylum seekers from Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and Lundy. So everyone else pack your bags and on the next plane.

I pretty much don't have an issue with asylum because a fundamental tenet of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is the right to live. And that's common sense, really. However, I do have one or two issues with immigration in context with the Third World.
It seems to me that every developed nation on Earth is far too eager to open its doors and offer a warm embrace to those individuals from the developing countries who have something valuable to offer (I'm looking specifically at doctors, nurses, architects, engineers, etc).
In essence, we're raping these third world countries of one of their most needed resources for future growth and prosperity: a solid specialist workforce. Without a firm base of skilled technical workers then, no matter how much money we pump into these nations, those national foundations will never be built.
...Unless it's by contractors from the developed world.

I think Mr Capitalist is rubbing his hands with glee, and laughing all the way to the bank. Where Mr Worker comes from is irrelevant, as long as his labour can be utilised at the cheapest rate. If there is a large pool of labour available to Mr Capitalist then wages can be low, low, low (The Tories provided that in the early '80s). Immigrants now provide that large pool of labour when the unemployment is low. It's easy. Supply and Demand... the basics of capitalist economy!

There needs to be more controls along the lines of that introduced in Australia, Let genuine asylum seekers in, but have a fair but short process that actually results in deportations.Put more public money into searching for and apprehending illegals, but reduce the money spent on defending the legal issues.

Australia has the right answer, while awaiting the results of the application to enter the country, all applicants stay on a island detention centre while the process is completed. once a decision is reached, they are either let in or sent back. immigratnts should be made to abide by the law of the country they want to live in, not make a song and dance to change the law to suit them! if they dont agree, then goodbye!

I'm more then happy to see new faces in our great country but.
We can't let everyone in, population is now at a record 60 million our schools, hospitals, prisons and other public services in time will not be able to cope without more cash input and thus tax rises. Other european countrys don't have an open door policy and I don't see why GB should. We need to allow in the works that are required (like most other countries) and refuse work permits (not entry) to workers we don't need.
As for assulum seekers, let in the honest cases and kick the others back. If you truly need a safe haven then GB is a great place.
