For instance, Visto.com sells products and solutions, but they look suspiciously the same. What's the difference?

I believe products are developed as a direct result of trying to solve a problem. A very simple example:

Your clothes are dirty and you want to get them clean again (problem).

Someone suggests making a device to clean the clothes (solution).

As a result, washing machines, liquid and powdered soaps, bleaches, fabric softeners, etc. are made (products).

These products are the solutions to the initial problem. So I guess you could say the difference between a product and a solution is a matter of semantics.

products are the outcome of a solution, technology-wise, but this "Visto.com sells products and solutions" is one and the same i suppose, until ofcourse they have some solutions that dont involve products, maybe for eg. consultancy

Rust and product updates. Download the updates to get a new flaw in your slaw, resulting in the purchase of whole new computer.
It's what keeps the world going around.

Most products don't solve anything. :-)
