I live in the north, and everyone I know is sick of the cold weather, and wants to move to Tennessee. Could a northerner really fit in there? What are southeners take on Northeners? As far as schools, jobs, communitys, cultures, what is the difference between the two states? How hot does it really get there? It is about 20 degrees where I live between December and March-brrrrrr.
I know nothing, please any answers would be great.

hey girl,
Tennessee is where it's at. I'm moving there as soon as I get the dough. It's sooo freakin' beautiful, the people are real nice and there is plenty to do there.... Hope I see you down in Tennessee some day...my friend.

My mom and dad are from the north (mom is from Massachussetts-MA and dad is from Pennsylvania-PA neat coincidence, no?) They moved to Southern Kentucky before I was born and I was raised in a very rural area that borders Tennessee to the south. It is a very, very beautiful area and I can't say enough about the scenery and climate. The climate is very mild, but there are still distinct seasons. It doesn't get super-cold in the winter or super-hot in the summer (though we still get to complain about the cold and hot weather). Growing up so close to Tennessee, I spent a lot of time down there. As far as Tennessee southerners taking (I assume you mean accepting) on northerners, my parents have lived here for 28 years and my mother has taught in the elementary school for 25 years. My father has worked locally as a master-carpenter and neither have run into much adversity towards where they were raised. I think you need to specify if you are moving to a small town or a large city in these states. The small town I grew up in seems very open-minded and the people are very friendly (whether you want them to be or not). The school system is good, not great, but what am I supposed to say (my mom's a great teacher). Get used to the southern accent (dialect really)! I moved to Texas for about 4 years and every time I would come home, I would have to get used to waving at every car that passed by again. I don't know jack about Georgia, but Tennessee is a nice state. I've been many different places and went to college in Cookville, TN. I'd be glad to tell you about the area your thinking of moving to, if you know. Its that southern hospitaliy thing. Good Luck.

In my personal opinion, people are much nicer in Tennessee and it's a much more beautiful state. I have lived in both places and much prefer Tennessee over Georgia. Besides, Tennessee has rockin' BBQ! My favorite state, though, in the entire US is South Carolina. It's beautiful from the Atlantic to the mountains and the people are friendly, weather's great, etc.

I'm from the north too Mi, right now I'm in Ga, not impressed, its hot and muggy in the 90's and higher and the people seem stand offish. I have vacationed in Tn and its beautiful country, so between the two I'd say Tn. But there's no place like home, I'm headed back to Mi in 3 weeks, I'll take it any day even with the snow!!!!!!!
