Replace your drinking with a healthier activity- take up a hobby. Jog, learn a new card game, whittle wood, what have you.
Also exercise to get the toxins out of your body.
It will be hard the first few weeks, but you will feel a lot better after awhile.
Best of luck to you!

By recognising the need to stop you have taken the first step. I've seen MD's use Disulfaram or Antabuse in the treatment of Chronic drinking difficulty - this though is an extreme means to an end , start by joining some sort of group therapy AA or a community project involved with this type of challenge. Try finding someone you can be accountable to and talk about overcoming this situation in your life. I suggest you see an expert in this regard, a psychologist or doctor to help chart a course of action!

You've taken the first step already. You've identified that you have a problem. Now, you can go it alone or you can seek out help. You are much more likely to be successful if you seek out others to help you. Probably, the most well known group is AA. There are chapters in ever city, town and borough..It takes courage to go the first time but is much easier after that.. Please, once you stop drinking, "getting drunk" most nights you will realize how much "LIFE" you have been missing.. Take that first step and break the cycle you won't be sorry.

Go to A.A. You will find a whole bunch of people who know where you are in your life. It is a hard step. When I walked through those doors I felt like I had given up. I thought I was going to hear a bunch of whiners lamenting the failures in their lives but I was wrong. I met some strong people who learned things the hard way and got back up and now they are reaching out too help others.
Go to a meeting. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I have answered alot of questions on this forum but this is definately the one I really feel is the most important. I wish you all the best now call someone find out where a meeting is and go.

Well if it's water, don't. If it's alcohol, I suggest you seek professional help. Alcoholism is a disease. It is a sickness that you need to get rid of, the right way. YOu go to a doctor to cure a disease of the body right? So you need some help to cure this disease of the mind. But be wary of yourself. Alcoholism will never go away (think Mel Gibson, or Robin Williams), you can however learn how to manage it. It IS possible. Your life is more important than a drink. I wish you all the luck in the world. You can do it!!

You have already taken the first step by asking this question. Now look in the phone book for the nearest AA center. You can stop with support. This is the best organization for help. Good Luck!

first come to a decision that you are tired of being sick and tired and you want something different
then find (locally) AA-acoholics anonymous meetings and get your butt there. seek out a sponsor-one that you think will be honest with you and help you work throgh the 12 steps and cope with the crap that comes with sobriety in its infancy then just keep going and don't drink----period-it will not cure you but it can be arrested.I have been sober for almost three yrs and though it may be hard to believe--it (life)has just gotten better and better but YOU have to make the decision TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO KEEP YOU SOBER-surrender to the cause-you...and the desire for a better life. good tidings to you fellow sufferer!
you want to know how?
H.--honest
O.---openmindedness
W.---willingness
Thats How!

If you think it's out of control a lot of people have found success with a structured program like AA. It wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

Just stop! Stop buying it, and stop letting others buy it for you. You'll be amazed at how much money you save!
